I’ve been told by a local that this is the best place to have pho in Hanoi!
We arrived just before 6.30pm and were seated inside. This was definitely a local favourite, many diners poured in after 7pm with tables quickly filling up outside.
I loved Sốt Vang, their pho with wine sauce. The beef was tender, and the broth was full of flavour even before I added any condiments. Definitely enjoy it as served, I waited a while before I started adding garlic vinegar (dam toi) and lime juice to mine.
My companion thoroughly enjoyed their Phở Lợi, a medium rare beef pho. I had a taste before he went crazy with chilli and found that the broth had a lot of body.
Trà đá, iced tea went really well with our meal, consider ordering this as a side!

Read moreTo be honest and upfront, having lived in and travelled around Vietnam over the last 15 years, i find the food and drink to be much better in the south than in the north. Therefore, i consider this place to be a real find and definitely the best food i have eaten in Hanoi. The broth is flavoursome without being overly salty (as is often the case up north), the meat beautifully tender and plentiful, the doughnuts (quay) fresh and an essential addition, and the service efficient. The only downside is if you get sat next to some of those non-Vietnamese 'big baby' tourists who are incapable of doing anything without an ever-present tour guide, you'll have to listen to the entire history of pho while you eat. Read moreNot the best one I’ve had but it could also be because I ordered sot vang instead of the normal pho everyone else did. Also might be because I had a better pho elsewhere. Was expecting the soup to be a lot more flavourful than it was given that this was sot yang. It was not cheap and extra charges are expected for the doughsticks. Was asked to shift seats thrice; I didn’t quite mind the shifting but my final placement was a table with a couple and another solo who were all coughing so it was quite an uncomfortable experience trying to eat and imagining all the germs spreading to me.
