Overall, very negative experience and would not stay again.

Cons: We booked two rooms for two couples, each was supposed to have two double beds (only private rooms available). Upon check in, we were informed that there was only one room and they had "upgraded" to a family room. They were fully booked so we weren't able to get that second room, but said they'd give a discount for the mistake. However, they then said that the discount was paying the original price (for one room) since it was an upgraded room (which we never agreed to and were not notified of any change prior to arrival so should not be charged extra by any means). It was late and we were leaving first thing in the morning so we decided to check in anyway instead of looking for a new hotel.

The "upgraded" room had a king bed and a single, for two couples. There were only 3 pillows and 2 towels (easily fixed that). The bathroom drain was located across the bathroom and didn't drain, so the entire bathroom was basically a lake until we manually drained it by creating a whirlpool 😂 The curtains didn't cover the windows fully so the room stayed quite bright. It felt like repeated negative surprises throughout our brief (but still too long) stay. Also narrow stairs, no elevator if that's relevant to you.

Pros: Clean, beds were soft, located conveniently in old quarter and walkable to Sunday night market and many...

The location was the only good thing about this hostel. When we checked in, we were told the room we’d booked had been given to someone else so we were given a “free upgrade” for the night which we then had to check out of and move to the new room in the morning. The state of this “upgrade” was disgusting. The bathroom was full of mould, there was blood on the sheets and the bed was broken. This is just some of the problems. The new room we moved to was marginally better but still nothing like the photos. When we explained to the host our concerns and that we’d like to check out early as we felt the place was not at all how it was described, she was incredibly rude to us. She also tried to claim that the room just hadn’t been cleaned yet despite the housekeeper handing us the key herself telling us the room was ready for us. She eventually agreed to give us 2nights money back when we left (our booking was for 5 nights) but this was only after blatantly talking about us to her housekeeper and trying to pass off this room as acceptable. Booking here is similar to a scam as it’s very overpriced and you’ll want to leave but won’t be able to get...

The staff was incredibly friendly and professional and nice, so I hate to give such a bad reviews, but I felt bamboozled and left and moved hotels despite booking a few nights. Do NOT trust the photos on booking sites. The hostel is linked to a travel office, so the lobby is the travel office. Hostel shared rooms are the lower levels. There is no lift or elevator. Everything is just not as it was expected. The TV was written on. You could see where things used to be on the walls and were ripped off. Routed were zip tied to lamps. The door locks seemed like they’d be incredibly easy to open. The light in the hall kept the room light at night. The room was generally clean. Bed and linens were clean. The location was convenient to things, but arriving late at night I wasn’t particularly comfortable - nothing specific, just bad vibe. The staff really was great though, when I checked out early to move hotels, she seemed to feel bad about my not being comfortable there and offered some free drinks since I’d already paid for...

The best part about this hostel is its location which is a few meters away From the famous Train Street and is within the old quarters area. The hostel staff was very kind, friendly and helpful even though there was a language barrier and we had some conversations using Google Translate. Many of the hotels and hostels in Hanoi accept only cash whereas Hanoi Jade Hostel accepts credit cards as well with a 3% surcharge. I booked a bunk bed for 3 nights, and the rates were very affordable but the pictures shown on display and in reality it was different. The bunk beds were of three levels, lower, middle and upper and I was assigned to the upper one which was very difficult for me to climb as I have severe back pain, I requested them for the lower or middle but it was fully booked and hence there was no other option. The hostel could be cleaner and more organized. Overall it was an average stay here, so many eateries are nearby this hostel at a very walking distance.

After my flight from Saigon, I had asked my taxi driver to take me to a hotel. Some place affordable and central. Hanoi Jade Hostel is located along Hang Ga in the old quarter. The room I stayed in was on the 4th floor and had a window that overlooked the neighboring streets. I paid 450,000 vnd or $20 per night for a room with 1 bed. The room was very clean and spacious. Conviently located light switches, a television with lots of channels, and a shower with a reliable water heater. I was able to store my bags for free while on my trip to Lao Cai province. Staying here was very memorable. It is a short walk to Ba Đình Square and the little lake. I am very glad I stayed at Hanoi Jade Hostel and this will be my choice when I return to Hanoi. One of my favorite stays while I was in Vietnam for sure. Thank you!
