Romantique Hotel De Hanoi — Hotel in Hà Nội

Of course I have all the proof needed! (Messages, video, etc) Beware of the hotel Romantique Hotel de Hanoi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my group were about to stay in this hotel for 3 nights. They sent me the invoice to make the payment so I did. After few days of not seeing the money to their bank account, their customer service informed me that they gave me a wrong bank account.

My accountant suggested the hotel to go to the Vietnamese bank and find out who is the holder of the wrong bank account. The hotel told me instead of this, just to cancel the process of the payment. When the holder of the wrong bank account would accept the fact that the 2500$ we transferred weren’t supposed to go to his/hers account, we would take the money back. After we did what the hotel suggested, their customer service told me to cancel the process of cancellation which we couldn’t make so we just had to wait the holder of the wrong bank account to accept the cancellation.

After few days, the hotel claimed that the Vietnamese bank found out who the holder of the wrong bank account is. So they told me to retransfer the money even though I didn’t see any money back to my company’s account. I told them to send me a proof from the bank to confirm it as it would take few days to see the money to our bank account. The manager agreed to go the next morning to the bank to give me an official paper.

And here is the good thing: I was about to find my group as it would be out last night in Hanoi and the bell door guy grabbed my hand and told me to go to the receptionist and talked with him. I went to the front desk, but then I saw the bell door guy trying to lock me inside the hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I run and he was after me.

I found by accident police officers and told them what happened. They suggested next day go to the bank with the manager meanwhile they scrolled the guy who was following me.

Next morning, was ready to go to the bank to confirm that I will take my money back and redo the payment.

They locked me inside the hotel with some travellers and our tour guide!!!!!!!!!! When I told the tour guide to call the police they unlocked the door.

I want to the bank today and I asked who the holder of the wrong bank account is.

They told me that the holder of the wrong bank account is the same person as the one that holds the correct bank account!!!!!!!!!

So they tried to make me retransfer money, but after all these actions they were forced indeed to make the refund of our first transfer. I have the name of the guy who made the wrong actions and kept lying to me! Also, the manager was one who approved to lock me in the hotel with the travellers!

Hands up to the two receptionists Mimi and Lucky who were trying to translate and help solve the problem even though they couldn’t do much!

Review: Decent Stay, but Poor Tour Management

We were a group of 8 who stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and 3 days. While the rooms were clean (although a bit small), and the hotel stay itself was decent, our experience with the hotel’s day tours left much to be desired.

On Day 1, we took a day-long trip to Ha Long Bay, which was satisfactory overall. However, Day 2’s trip to Ninh Binh was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.

Here are the main issues we encountered:

Unprofessional Guide: Instead of a professional guide, the hotel provided an intern named Lucky. She had little knowledge of the places we visited and couldn't explain the spots properly. Her constant, unnecessary talking and intervention in our discussions made the trip uncomfortable. She even admitted that she hadn’t visited these places in a year and didn’t know much about them.

Uncooperative Driver: The hotel arranged an 11-seater car for us, but the driver didn’t speak any English, making communication almost impossible. After a long day at Trang An in the heat, we requested him to lower the air conditioner, but he became visibly furious and refused to adjust it. His overall attitude was rude and unhelpful.

Poor Planning & Communication: During the boat ride in Trang An (included in our package), we weren’t informed that it would be an hour-long ride under the blazing heat. Halfway through, we asked to return to the dock, but the boatwoman refused. Had the guide informed us in advance, we would have made a different decision.

Lack of Consideration for Tourists: On our way to the airport from Mua Caves (a 3.5-hour journey), we requested a brief stop for a washroom break. Despite our repeated requests, especially from our female members, the guide and driver refused to stop, citing that the driver didn’t want to. To make things worse, Lucky left the car halfway through the journey, leaving us helpless until we reached the airport.

While the hotel stay was comfortable, I strongly recommend avoiding booking any day-long trips through them. If you do, ensure that both the driver and guide are attentive to the needs of the passengers, and clarify all...

As first-time visitors, it went beyond our expectations. The room was cozily lovely and clean (thanks much to the housekeeping) with a little veranda overlooking the road. Walking distance to every café, resto, convenience store, arts/crafts store, and what-have-you. Their iconic “cyclos” is right on the street if your feet get tired walking. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating, very helpful. Also thanks much to the FD staff, Zuey (i hope i got your name’s spelling right) for assisting us in our very early morning check out. The Customer Service man, Mr. Tranh Viet, was especially quick to show map directions we needed and most especially facilitative when the hubby requested for a Bonsai garden tour in the city on the 17th of April 2023. It was Viet’s first time as he admittedly said, to arrange one bonsai garden tour; in fact even went with us to serve as guide/interpreter. Congratulations, Viet; we can’t thank you enough for making the hubby’s dream come true! It went over and beyond our expectations! Truly amazing!
