Tried the Thai massage for 550,000 vnd (not cheap). It was terrible and I walked out after 10 minutes (didn’t have to pay).
It started with hard back/leg stretches, which should be done at the end of the session, after your body has been softened/relaxed by the massage. Next, the masseuse put oil on my back, which is a big red flag: Thai massage use no oil whatsoever, and proceeded with gentle rubbing and light thumb pressures here and there (second red flag: Thai massage come with a lot of forearm/elbow work). After wiping my back from the oil and putting a towel on my back, I was half expecting she’d start walking on my back (in retrospect, I recall there is no rope/hanging support above the table so they just can’t do that) or start that dry-elbow work I just mentioned, so I was quite appalled when instead she switched to oiling my legs (with a lot of oil) and very gently rubbing/caressing them. That was so utterly useless that I stopped the session here and walked out.
Meanwhile, my wife got her nails done. She was disappointed with the quality of the work for her toes, so she didn’t ask for her fingernails to be done and won’t go...
Read moreThis had to be one of the worst massages my partner and I have ever had. It was obvious the masseuses had no idea what they were doing, they essentially rubbed questionable oil on us for a full hour with no pressure or regard to aches/sore spots. They were also jumping on and off their phones and chatting throughout the entire massage.
The place was absolutely filthy and smelt like piss as the toilet is right next to the counter downstairs and wafted through the entire building. The massage beds weren’t any better, 3 crammed into a tiny corner split by old sheets. Steps were borderline dangerous and the whole place was just rundown.
It’s also obvious all the 5 star reviews are fake. We stayed across the road at the Hanoi Allure hotel and not once noticed someone walking in/out.
Don’t waster your time or money (even at happy hour prices). It’s not worth it and there are so many better alternatives down the road for a fraction more (recommend La...
Read moreCame in for a pedicure. I was so uncomfortable. The woman seemed like I was an inconvenience, she had my feet on the sharp edge of the basin so I asked if she could put down a towel instead. So she put this wooden board that kept slipping. I spent the entire service in pain trying to stop the board from slipping. I asked if I could be moved to a massage chair to finish the nail polish part and she refused. She burned me with hot water, she could tell I was almost in tears and she did not care. I also had some wounds on my feet that she kept rubbing but she was just staring out the window not paying attention. Even when I said OW she just ignored me. Worst attitude I've ever experienced...
