Paradise Hotel — Hotel in Hội An

Mixed experience… expected better since we visited with a popular tour company. “Basic” accommodation can still be decent!

Positives: Ok location; 15 min walk from the old town. Dorm beds fairly comfortable. Daytime reception staff were friendly. Laundry done well within 24 hours.

Negatives: Room was very damp, the air actually felt damp and it smelled bad. Only answer was opening a window or using dry mode on the AC, but it was freezing! Very small room for 6 beds. Shower was mostly ice cold, and turned to a dribble when the room next door ran their shower. Included breakfast buffet was cold (apart from the freshly made eggs). WARNING!! This hotel has a serious issue with bed bugs! Waking up after the first night, the three of us had a lot of bed bug bites all over our legs! When telling the staff in the reception their reaction was laughing at us. We got to change rooms and in the new room we could see the bed bugs crawling under the matress!! We have some friends staying there 2 weeks ago, and they also got bed bugs at this hotel. We are travelling in a group of 18, and could also see that alot of the others were bitten. We were only gonna stay for 2 nights, but after actually seeing the bugs and the unserious reaction from the staff we booked in at another hotel the last night! This hotel was recently constructed so hopes were high. The place is, even though central, a little bit off . This can be good as noise from traffic is not a problem. But now there is a big construction site for a new house (hotel?) being built. So you'll walk by the construction. And then the rather small road that leads to the hotel is not paved and is actually mud road, going through a little bit unpleasant neighborhood.

Once there you can see that the 3 years the place has been around is showing. It was like the pictures, just adding 3 years without proper maintenance. Still a decent place though. We did receive very nice treatment at the reception and the owner/manager...
