Bamboo Restaurant and Coffee — Restaurant in Hội An

My wife and I live around the corner but rarely go down this street. We tried to find some bahn xeo but the place we wanted to go was closed down so decided to try here instead. Absolutely amazed! The spring rolls had an intense flavor that was superior to any other place we have been in Hoi An. Since we have moved to Vietnam, all we eat is local food, mostly at stands or carts. The location is on a peaceful side street, so it was really relaxing for us to get away from the streets for a change and experience a more intimate evening. The owner was kind enough to extend her hand to us when we left and smiled on our way in, which is a big deal for me and reminds us that there are still valuable business/hospitality ethics being upheld in this unethical world. For what we ate and drank, the price was unbeatable! Away from the busy streets of old town Hoi An, Khan Hoa Bamboo gave me the best restaurant experience I’ve had so far in Vietnam. The atmosphere is lovely, and offers a nice change of pace from the usually noisy and busy streets of Vietnamese cities. I got the fried wonton, and after finishing it I couldn’t help but order something else of the menu. Second dish I ordered in was the pancake, and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, it did. The owner and chef brought me my food, and sat down next to me to instruct me on how to eat it. The wonton and the pancake were both absolutely delicious, and the prices were in the range where I didn’t feel bad in the slightest getting two dishes. If you look Chinese, stay away from this restaurant. We dined in and there were two other tables with Caucasian looking customers. The lady boss was very friendly to both of the tables (1 lady and another with 1 lady and 1 man). When we ordered, we specifically pointed at the fried spring rolls and she repeated herself. We were later served fresh spring rolls and were quite surprised. We asked and she said she didn't have fried ones but the fresh ones were delicious too and that many people ordered it too. There was no apology nothing. Came here because it was so highly rated but I guess it's only good for Caucasians or richer Asians like Japanese or Korean. If it matters, we spoke English to her and so did the other customers so it definitely was not a language issue. Worst...
