I visited Herbal Pizza in Hoi An after reading positive reviews, but I was unfortunately disappointed.
The restaurant is located on a busy street. There are a few tables outside, but most of the seating is indoors. They have a large wood-fired pizza oven at the entrance to the place. So expectations were high. They want you to find the menu on your mobile via a qr code, but they also have some menus to hand out.
They also have happy hour until 6pm, but we didn't try any of their drinks.
We ordered:
Large half-and-half pizza with Spicy Beef Kebab and Spicy Chicken: The beef kebab pizza was tasty and well-seasoned, but it had way too much cheese. The spicy chicken pizza had unevenly distributed chicken and, again, way too much cheese.
Medium pizza with Sausage and French Fries: This was a big disappointment for my son. First, it had (again) way too much cheese. The French fries were overcooked and burnt, and the pizza lacked tomato sauce. We asked about the lack of tomato sauce, and they offered us a bowl of it on the side. However, adding tomato sauce to a pizza after it's been cooked is not ideal. The excessive amount of cheese made the pizzas soggy and difficult to eat.
Another thing that detracted from our experience was that one of the staff members stood next to our table the entire time we were eating, staring at us. It was very uncomfortable.
Overall, we were disappointed with Herbal Pizza. The only positive thing was that they didn't charge us for the children's pizza after we complained. This shows that they take criticism seriously, which is something I appreciate. And it´s to only aspect of our visit that saves them from beeing a...
Read moreI ordered Pizza and Garlic Bread to be delivered to my home for lunch, the rating I gave is for the entire meal. It is odd to write a review like this because I have one positive thing to say and one that needs some improvement or maybe a better explanation in the menu.
The garlic bread was obviously made with really high quality bread, however there was a green foamish sauce on it that made it taste frankly like dirt. I could sense a little garlic under the immensely earthy flavor but the dirt like flavor was so intense that I lost the garlic in seconds and it was like a mouth full of earth. I do not know what this sauce was or is, but I would have enjoyed the dish had it just been a traditional, garlic bread a lightly toasted bread with garlic, butter and a little salt.
The pizza on the other hand (Pepperoni with Olives) was perfectly cooked, the crust was light and had a good chew and the peperoni was of high quality. The sauce had a sweetness to it that was unexpected but not unpleasant.
I will order form them again in the future, however I may include instructions to leave off the green sauce that took all the garlic flavor out of the...

Offering an excellent choice of pasta, pizza and meat dishes, we went for a seafood salad, two pasta dishes and garlic bread. The service was friendly and quick to take our order. Our first dish, the salad, took about 5-8 minutes to be delivered, soon followed by the garlic bread. They were both delicious, with the salad having a really tasty but not overwhelming dressing.
For the pasta, you have a choice of sauces which is served with 4 different types of pasta. We went for Farfalle with Pesto and the Bolognese with Fusilli. Both dishes were exquisite! They were full of flavour and surprisingly quite filling given that the shape of the plates they are served in might leave you thinking you will need to order more food.
At the end of our lunch, we were offered some free fruit based ice lollipops, a very kind gesture on a really hot day.
The restaurant decor is really classy and the hygiene and cleanliness is top notch.
All in all, this restaurant is a fantastic alternative to local food. I would urge...
