This was our last meal before leaving Hoi An but we really wanted to give it a try since it was recommended by our hotel manager. We are glad we did go since the food was great! Granted we were a bit confused at first since we were the only customers at the time and it looked closed. But the lovely owners fired up the grill and told us to sit down and wait a bit. No one asked what we wanted to order besides the word Barbecue being repeated several times followed buy nodding. A short time later they dropped a big plate with meat skewers on the table. It was a massive portion. We were then shown how to eat it the proper way and dug in. The flavor combination is amazing! We decided to finish the whole plate since we thought we would have to pay for all of it anyway. To our surprise it does not work that way. They bring the big plate to evey table and you only pay for the skewers you actually eat. So much for being lost in translation. Anyway, the food was amazing and you should give it a go if you like grilled meat. Very...
Read moreThe food was amazing but at that point I got sick and tired of ordering at local restaurants and having them just casually hike the prices up or serving us mountains of food and charge more just because we’re tourists.
I pointed at the menu and said I wanted 3 sets of it and the guy said ok 3, and instead we got served and charged for 6.
When I paid I said I ordered 3 and he proceeded to count all the sticks to prove that we’d had 6 portions. That wasn’t the point and it wasn’t like I wasn’t gonna pay, but we kept getting overcharged and I got so tired that I just wanted to point out that I ordered 3 and see if that meant anything to him. Of course not, he just wanted to prove how much we’d eaten and how much we owed him.
Next time please just stick to the amount we order and if we wanted more we’d let you know. Or like print the actual menu portion if you’re gonna go ahead and assume 1 means 2.
The lady who taught us how to eat was very sweet and kind and the beef was freshly grilled and tasty. Shame it wasn’t a...
Read moreI love this place. We rarely do the same place twice, but heading back here today probably. Ms Thu is the best. So personable. Makes you feel right at home. This is the way I remember Vietnam. Food is great. The BBQ set is one of if not the best thing I have had in the country. Wonderful pork that you stuff into rice paper with fresh herbs and lettuce, then dip into a wonderful sauce that is as spicy as you want, thanks to the chili sauce on the table. I am pretty sure that every set comes with a personal tutorial from Ms. Thu herself. Ours did. And do y even try to take off before getting your watermelon for dessert! I come from the southern U.S., we know our watermelon, and so do the Vietnamese. Always ripe, and sweet. Love it here. Can’t wait to go...
