Ngoc Minh Hotel — Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

Horrible staff, rude manager, no compensation when they lose your booking due to their own mistakes. Not recommended at all!

During our trip to Viet Nam in April 2017, we booked a room in this hotel, received the confirmation e-mail, though we had no room when we arrived due to the hotel being overbooked. We were dragged from one place to another, until after 2 hours, they found a room nearby. No information was shared with us on what is happening as the non-English speaker receptionist with a questionable manner was not willing to answer our questions. Thanks to their lack of coordination, we missed our scheduled trip the next day. Finally, we asked for a monetary compensation to which the highly offensive manager simply said that she has no interest in this.

They use the trick that once they set your booking as "not checked in" and you accept it because you were given another hotel room, you cannot write a bad review of them. Pay attention when this happens to you and do not accept the room in the nearby "Remember Hotel". According to Booking's policy, in such cases the hotel should offer a room with the same or even higher conditions. Hotel is located at an alley that opens up to the main drag. I like the easy access to the local wet market, the famous Bo Vien Street lined with bars on both sides. From here, one can wander around the interesting neighborhood for the pricey Trung Nguyen Cafe. There are many small viet eating places spread out in the neighborhood. I found my favorite Bun Bo Hui (spicy beef noodle soup) situated at the entrance to the alley.

However, hotel minh ngoc was at around usd70+ for a double w breakfast. Suggest checking out the neighboring hotel in the alley for a better rate.

We stayed in a family room, two queens in a long room with tiny balcony looking down to the laneway. I highly recommend this hotel. We stayed in another up near Been Than market and it was the same price a shocking. WiFi works. Hot water. Clear tv signal. Aircon works well. Elevator also great working order. No smoke smell and clean. Chase up the housekeeping if they are slack. Laundry in house is cheaper than across the road as it's air dried not machine dried. Breaky Break up on the rooftop.
