Tomcat — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I never had such BAD experience with BAR STAFF in Brisbane before. I’ve worked with hospitality for more than 5 years and I never seen such ARROGANCE and Bad manners as last night coming from three of the bar workers. I stayed in that bar from 9 pm to 12:30 am and the venue was basically empty for the normal capacity. However, due COVID-19 restrictions it was necessary leave the drinks inside to get in the smoking area which the capacity was for 6 people. Once I was there, the staff through away a full drink mine that I just had bought and it was placed inside the venue, close the door. Ok, that was requested again for Bartenders and problem solved, despite huge irony from them. After that situation, a Floor staff (male, black hair, piercing, tall (6’1), skinny, long black beard and very rude attitude, started being extremely aggressive with me and group of friends, all of us foreigners. It was clear the implication was just with our group. We were SOBER and following the whole restrictions guide. He was following us all the time screaming. But the worst moment, was when we finally got inside the smoking area after waiting for while in the queue, once the capacity was 6. We got inside there, a Bar Staff (5’9, medium straight hair and with a cap) arrived to smoke and told them to leave because he wanted smoke and he worked there. I told him to wait his time, because we just got there and we were sharing a cigarette. He started SCREAMING “I work here”, “ I can be here” “you guys GO AWAY and threatened us with “I call the security”. I explained him that he could wait his turn and clearly used the COVID-19 restrictions to justify “his rights” to use the smoking area the way he liked. He should be working btw. This time the situation was already out of control, the bar staff and curling blond bait security screaming for nothing, and then I left for such bad treatment. WHY I would spend my money in a such bad environment? Many bars are closing the doors because of the economic moment, but TOMCAT with your immature employees is choosing scream and be rude with few customers that have left. Manager should make a meeting and review if worth keep employees with this kind of attitude....

This place is amazing. The vibe and atmosphere is so great. The main bar has live performances most nights, which are always amazing, a smokers area you can still hear the music and a few arcade games.

The the back room is just a nod to every punk bands you know and love. With tables to sit at and another bar with yet another pool table.

The people are just real people who are fun to be around and feel like they fit the vibe perfectly.

Also if your lucky enough to organise a private event in the back room or just be served by Jackson, you are guaranteed to have an amazing time. Whether you want just a run of the mill beer or some exotic cocktail or even mocktail he willl hook you up with a smile and advice on what to choose based on what you like.

I couldn't recommend this place highly enough if there was a 6 star option they would definitely get it. Also the drinks are actually super...

@Tomcat Owner: I was in full sense ( *I wasn't Drunk nor Sober ), to know what is Strip club and Music Bar. Security at the gate started to make stories, first he said we have 10 members inside, and the floor is full, then he presumably said it is not a strip club without even me uttering a single word, I was just waiting for entry.. Then he started arguing with me and said I can't grant access 🚫 to you... Right after me leaving the entrance, he granted access to 3 other people. I have seen the world, this is not the way you deal with customers.. It looks like Owner and the Security on the same page...

Denied entry 🚫 not once but trice, Security at the front is very rude. I strongly felt that they racial profile people based on ethnicity. First time being an Indian Origin Aussie...
