I bought durian last week as a treat for myself because I love durian. I was pretty disappointed that it was all hard and parts of it was sour. I messaged the supplier on instagram since that’s how I found out about the durian, they asked a few questions then stopped responding so I messaged Chang Market after a busy Easter weekend. I have uploaded the conversations for full transparency but the TLDR is they seemed to have knowingly sold expired durian and refused to refund even though I had video of it being hard and the flesh starting to have black marks. They seem to expect me to keep the notoriously smelly durian until I found the time to travel into the city with it for a refund. Apparently explaining and video evidence wasn’t enough. They should have written off expired durians as a business loss and not expose customers to inedible durian just to absorb their cost. They kept trying to offer 10% off “next time” even though the WHOLE durian was awful to eat.. sorry but there will not be a next time, as I don’t want to risk buying expired durian again or waste my time and money. Plus going through the hassle and emotional distress! I am only writing this review after I came to them so they have a chance to make it right but they have yet to do so. I will update this review if Chang responds with some accountability and refunds their expired durian. I am genuinely so sad this is happening because I was a repeat customer for durian, now I can’t trust them for durian or customer service. Update: Apparently Chang expects a customer to come back to them within 24hrs of buying to return expired product and has passed the issue to the manufacturer - Chang Market also spoke very unprofessionally with derogatory and sarcastic remarks. As a matter of principle, I will be making an official complaint about Chang Market.
