I am writing yet again to recommend Lily and her crew (including lovely and famous Pomeranian, who is nearly as famous as the shop!). They are experts at alterations, speedy, and very good value. On top of that, she and her colleague are simply lovely. I keep returning to the shop because there is nothing better than having clothes which are fitted right - I assume that they can do any kind of alteration - do not go anywhere else, this is THE PLACE for your alterations in central Sydney.
As mentioned in my previous review, I have been back to Lily for further alterations including removing a hem from knitwear, altering the size and length of a velvet tunic, and lengthening the side slits in a long dress. Of course each piece was altered perfectly, with appropriate suggestions, which further reduced the very reasonable cost for me. What I particularly like about Lily's is that 1. you are supporting a local highly professional small business, 2. you wear clothes much more when they fit you perfectly - this is particularly holistic when you have purchased from charity shops, 3. altered clothes will nearly always look better, and they become unique items of clothing. The odd customer may occasionally misunderstand Lily's slightly droll style and sense of humour - but I can assure you that she is very customer focused. There are bigger alteration companies which will do as good a job, but they are much more expensive and take a lot more time. This is why I continue to visit Lily, and her shop is one of my favourite places in Sydney. And finally, for the guy complaining about his trousers, I suggest a discussion is a much better way to sort out a 'problem' - Lily is one of the most honest, and honorable people I know. The huge number of positive reviews for Lily's tell...
Read moreWhen I was in need searching of a highly skilled tailor who could transform clothes with intricate cross-stitching techniques customized in design, I was fortunate to be introduced to Lilly and Dan. Her dedication and attention to detail are truly remarkable. From meticulously customizing the colors to hand-stitching even the most intricate buttons, both Dan and Lilly's craftsmanship has resulted in a stunning set of clothes for both myself and my friend.
Working from a simple sketch, Lilly and Dan brought our vision to life with unparalleled precision, hardwork, consultancy and artistry. Without a doubt, Lilly and Dan stands out as the finest tailor I have ever met, then to have worked with, and her impact on our project will not be forgotten.
Thanks to both Dan and Lilly's expertise, we now have the perfect costumes for our upcoming production of "If Australia Was A Republic," a film centered around the Eureka Stockade in a unique direction. Not only did Lilly deliver beyond our expectations, but she also completed the work ahead of schedule, saving us from any potential delays.
I am immensely grateful for Dan and Lilly's exceptional work, have no regrets and I will cherish the memories of our collaboration and teamwork to achieve such a unique piece. And for that, I extend much thanks with this photo as our memories, forever enshired under this comment. Thank you, Lilly and Dan, for your outstanding contribution to our project and helping us when we needed it the most. Would definitely recommend anyone with a similar niche to come contact her for amazing alterations....
Read moreI asked a for simple tulle cut (no stitching afterwards as it's tulle) and matching the length of skirt lining to be the same. She charged me $70 for this, which was nearly the amount of the dress. This was for my graduation, service was slow happy I gave her time. Picked it up the day before my graduation and it was uneven shorter at the back longer at the front. It did not even cover the lining skirt below. Did not notice this until I went home and tried it on the night before.
I did tell her about this and she said could fix it. I swallowed my pride and wore the wonky dress to my graduation and then went to her the weekend after so she would fix it. I asked for a refund upon my arrived. My idea was that the service I paid for was not provided and I wore an uneven dress. She disagreed and fought me on it for a bit. After some backup from my friend she ended up giving the refund but then had a negative attitude to fixing my dress. She offered but I could tell she wasn't happy about the refund argument, so I just left. So now I have an uneven dress in my closet.
Would never go back unfortunately. She was not that polite, which was shame because all the reviews said she was. No proper changing room, changed behind a big drawer in a corner of room with lights turned off. Lost of passion I'm sure, all the good reviews never measured up to my experience. Disappointed.
(In response, I actually never tried the dress when I picked it up due to her good reviews I believed in her...
