A Delightful Taste of Austrian Tradition Dining at STERNBRÄU in Salzburg was an exceptional experience, offering a perfect blend of traditional Austrian cuisine and warm hospitality. The historic ambiance of the restaurant, nestled in the heart of the city, immediately sets the stage for a memorable meal with my wife on Aug 14. The highlight of the meal was the veal schnitzel, served with parsley potatoes and cranberry sauce. The schnitzel was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavor. The parsley potatoes were a delightful accompaniment, and the cranberry sauce added a lovely hint of sweetness that perfectly complemented the dish. Paired with a local beer, it was a true taste of Austrian culinary excellence. To finish, we indulged in the apricot cake for dessert. The cake was light, moist, and the apricot provided just the right amount of sweetness to end the meal on a high note. Every dish was prepared with care and attention to detail, making the dining experience thoroughly enjoyable. STERNBRÄU is a must-visit for anyone in Salzburg looking to experience authentic Austrian food in a charming and historic setting. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout choice.

SERVICE 5/5 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎 Albeit all-make, the service is spot on: speedy, polite, and with a smile. Super complimentary and couldn’t fault the pace and care we were shown. FOOD 5/5 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎 The food was delicious! I had the braised lamb which came with a side of mash potatoes. It was the smoothest, fluffiest mash I’ve ever tasted, with a garlic kick to it. Then for dessert, we ordered the infamous Salzburger Nockerl which was huge! It’s meant to be a serving for one, but we shared and it was just right (portion/size). It comes with a side of warm raspberry (and mixed berries) compote, which is the perfect accompaniment of sour with the sweet soufflé. DRINKS 4/5 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤍 Ordered the lemon radler, which is a light beer with a kick. Super refreshing on a hot day, and the large size was more than enough to last the entire meal. VIBES 4/5 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤍 Loved sitting in the outdoor terrace. There was always a queue, but you get seated super quickly. When it gets cooler, there are burners in the umbrella coverings so guests are kept warm. There’s more than enough spacing between tables, so you feel safe. Only downer is no music is played, so it’s just the chatter of other diners for company.

I chose this restaurant based on good reviews. However, I believe that ask the good reviews were by tourists. I mean sure, if you are not European and you are visiting from somewhere else then the food is good. I personally found it flavorless and overpriced for what it is. I mean the Goulash they offer, have big chunks of meat in a stew, however, it did not take like anything. Nothing good or bad. Same goes for the Schnitzel. If these are you got choices then you are better off eating elsewhere, when I visited it was Christmas market season, and ask the food stalls offered tasty food way better than this. However I must say that the service was amazing. The waiters were all very attentive, polite and helpful. They all served with a big smile on their face and nice attitude. The restaurant was also beautifully decorated for Christmas and had a nice bar.

Went for lunch, and it was bad experience. Too many staffs doing nothing. After waiting more than 10 min before someone come to my table, finally I got menu and the waiter was quite annoyed when I ask English version of menu. Maybe he forgot that place like this, only survive because of tourists.. .. I ordered a goulash and large beer. After 20 min I got both together. A very poor version of goulash also cold and served with a spoon into the plate (I hate that. Very uncomfortable and unprofessional service). Plate was dirty on the border, dirty fingers printed. I ask the bill 3 time and finally when I got it I payed cash, I asked for the receipt and the very arrogant waiter told to be don't be in hurry and have patience....and started complaining in German...so I won't understand the insulting.... After all that.... Very bad experience.

Wow. Quite an expirience.we just arrived in town, from the street, first restaurant we found, and were seated in less than 10 minutes (I think they split up the locals from visitors and pleople with kids to different halls). The staff was very friendly, and very well organized and profesional. The food was very creative and came quick. Wee had the soups (with cheese noodle/pretzel),great beef broth . For main dish we had steak+beans coldplate for my lady, and for me vegeterian potato gratin with a great tomato based sauce and parmesan, a classic. The sweets the lady had was was creme brule with raspberry sauce which was delicious but too big, and I had the chocolate cake. My cake was a little dissapointing felt a bit like a generic i.e. store boight. We loved the drinks from taps: wine for the lady and beer for me.

Solid place in town. They have a courtyard to sit outside under trees in the middle and also plenty of inside seating for evenings and inclement weather. It's Austria so the waiting staff is friendly and courteous but they don't kill you with kindness - efficient, so there is nothing wrong with that. Food was quick, beer came right away, they staff didn't ask you every 5 minutes if you wanted something and don't hurry you along either, but were there when you needed them. Food was solid - not outstanding but solid and worth what I paid for it. It is a bit touristy, but I remember my mother would go once a week to here bridge club game evenings there (I grew up in Salzburg) so you will find locals as well, just not at noon on a weekday.
