A nice roomy place almost by the water. There are tables both on the veranda and inside. If you book a table in advance, they do not make reservations for the veranda, but only inside, and they can seat you outside if there is a place there when you arrive. They have many people working here, so there should be no problem with waiting on a busy day, but we came when there were not many people so it's just my opinion. Very friendly and knowledgeable waiters. What they advised us to my questions satisfied us completely. There is not much specific atmosphere here, but the "marine surroundings" in a design are quite pleasant. I would rate it 7-8 out of 10, depending on your mood, I guess. Not noisy (but again, we were not there on a busy day). We ordered the whole lobster and the "Chief's Dozen Oysters" set with a glass of "Gasp Riesling" wine for my wife and a glass of "Dirty Blonde" beer for me. In fact, you can choose oysters from the menu separately from different places of catch, or you can order such a set at once from different places, which is what we did. And for the dessert we took a glass of "Sea the Stars Mojito" and a "Chocolate cake" for my wife and a glass of "Dalwhinnie" whisky and a "Salted Carrot cake" for me. The wine, cocktail, whiskey and beer were great. The wine and beer went perfectly with the lobster. The cakes were also great. Not exactly wow, but the taste is soft and pleasant, I think you can also give it a 7-8 out of 10. The lobster... well, it was the first time we ate it whole, and we were specifically looking for a place where we can eat it like that and found this restaurant based on ratings and reviews. I can say that I agree with people who write that the lobster is very tasty, but there is not enough of it. This is not a complaint about the restaurant, but rather about the lobsters, why are they so greedy :) ...So I am happy with the taste, if we are talking just about the taste/cooking. And about the oysters... we didn't understood it. They are light, and they almost don't have taste or satiety. I don't think they were bad, or poorly processed so to speak. It's just not for us. I've always wanted to try what it is about these oysters that makes some people rave about them and others say they're just an overhyped delicacy. Well, me and my wife are now with the second team: we don't understand it. Anyway, thanks to this nice restaurant and its staff for serving us and giving us some first experience with lobster...
Read moreCalled ahead (a Friday at 7:30PM) told there was a small lineup but growing every minute so I'd better hurry. I ran ahead of my group, got there just before 8, no line, seated for 4 & baby with high chair immediately. When my others arrived at 8:20ish, ordered food and had it within 20 mins including whole lobster.
Server Heather was amazing. Even at the end of her 10 hr shift on day 5, she offered one of us who loves cooked oysters but hesitant on trying raw and offered to bring one of her fave out and it was great! (Raspberry Point). Fish and chips piece of fish was a large as advertised in menu, bacon wrapped scallops and calamari were great, as was molasses bread loaf. The 1.5 lbs. "East Coast Lobster" I had was great, market price was $67 on Sept 2nd, 2022. Being from landlocked Ontario and not a big fan of lobster anyway and more having come for the experience, server graciously spent probably 5-10 mins total on two occasions breaking open my lobster for me and showing me how to get the meat out, as I was hungry and hopeless and figured it'd be faster for her to teach me every step as I'm someone who wants to get the most meat off as possible. Menu and lobster plate photos attached. The side potato salad with the lobster was meh, but the coleslaw was great! It's a different one than what came with the fish & chips, which wasn't nearly as good as the lobster side. Every single staff member who came by to smile at or say hi to the baby of drop an item off didn't seem rushed if we asked questions and was very polite and helpful and that was so great, even for it being a Friday night and a huge dining area. I was pleasantly surprised to see they didn't seem understaffed either, given the labour shortage especially in the hospitality industry. Maybe that's cause a lot of the serving staff said they work 10...
Read moreI had the bacon wrapped scallops and the lobster roll. The scallops were good. Six of them for 19$. Honestly I think you could get 30 of these at Costco for the same price and they’d taste the same.
The lobster roll. Maybe it’s a long honored tradition that they come in a hot dog bun. The hot dog buns that are a weird piece of the absolute cheapest white bread. Like the ones you’d get for a birthday party for 100 kids and you were on a budget. Like maybe the bread could’ve been baked in house to add value, and flavor? As for the lobster, there was a lot, it looked fresh, I was pretty excited by this. I could taste the bread. I could taste the celery. I could taste the mayo. But the lobster had NO taste. Makes me kinda think that maybe everybody just eats lobster with TONS of garlic and butter because perhaps lobster is not that flavourful? I’m probably wrong, in fact I’m pretty sure I’ve bought lobster in Halifax and enjoyed lots of flavor… but ya know maybe I was just dipping it in butter and garlic.
Anyway, no flavor lobster roll. Maybe it was my taste buds? I don’t think so, I could taste the uhhh chips this 33$ roll came with. Not chips like British chips… just chips like from a bag that a 7 year old is eating from on Halloween. Admittedly the chips seemed to be made in house… that’s great. But I’m an adult… I paid 33$, get me a side that has mass and effect.
The atmosphere is charming, the staff is nice when they show up. The price and quality are not there - just go anywhere else. I think Tim Horton has a great donut that was made in Toronto, frozen and shipped by truck across country that you’ll really enjoy for 3.33$
Serious about those Costco scallops though… same level and really and quite good on a Tuesday during a...
