Went to Gigi’s for dinner with friends. We loved the newly renovated interior as it certainly creates a better ambiance than the previous restaurant. While viewing our menus we could barely hear each other’s conversations or the server as the noise volume was extreme and the tables were packed too closely together that there was only about 2 1/2 feet between our table and the table beside us. I asked the hostess if we could move to a vacant table of four that was located in a corner hoping that the sound level would be better. The hostess advised that she would talk to her manager and then told me that we couldn’t move to the vacant table as it was a”special reservation” and offered to move us across the room or to a high top bar table. We were all very happy with our meals, it was delicious and the service was excellent. The manager was very attentive and came to our table many times to make sure we were happy. He also added our preference for a quiet table location in future to our profile and he gave us all a complimentary dessert, thank you! In regards to the menu options we hope that management will consider expanding the menu beyond pasta and pizza, possibly to include chicken and veal. It’s is also our hope that to address loud noise in the restaurant, management will focus on sound absorption and strategic...

On arrival a table was promptly found, as our group had a reservation. The dining room was quite full and very, very noisy. It was uncomfortably loud as there are few materials to absorb sound. We had to lean in and speak loudly to hear each other.
I ordered a craft beer ( $9 ) and lasagna at $28. The beer was in a can, not draft. When the lasagna arrived I was taken aback at the small size of the portion. The lasagna itself was barely warm, maybe the result of a small slice placed on a cold plate?
The lasagna itself was made with many layers, many more than is usual in my experience. While this may demonstrate craftsmanship in the preparation I felt it didn't leave room for the tastes and textures of the fillings between the layers to come through.
The service was perfunctory. Timely, but the server didn't really check in with us to see if we were satisfied with our meals. Her checkins were too perfunctory for us to express our disappointment.
With tax and tip, my meal was $50 for a canned beer and half a slice of lasagna. I left with my ears ringing and still needing more food. (Had desert at home, and a snack later in the evening. )
Overall, I don't see that value proposition here. I wish the owners well, but I won't be likely to return...
Read moreGigi’s Italian! My New Go-To in Sauble Beach! Gigi’s has quickly become my favourite spot in Sauble Beach and for good reason! I’ve already been twice in just the past couple of weeks since they opened, and each visit has been outstanding. On my first trip, I tried the Cavatelli Alfungi, hands down the most incredible pasta dish I’ve ever had. Rich, earthy, and absolutely unforgettable. Tonight, I went for the featured seasonal item: the Wild Ramp / Leek Cream Pizza. Wow. I was blown away. Creamy, vibrant, and packed with flavour, it’s a shame it’s seasonal because I’d order it every time. The service? Impeccable. Our server was the best we’ve ever had warm, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu. Gigi’s is a true gem and a welcome addition to the Sauble Beach dining scene. Many return visits are definitely...
