Just an update to my review. Last time me and my friend had a considerably negative experience here. I am a long time customer of Simon's Bike shop and I recommended Simons Bike shop to everyone, i had fixed my bike here a lot but the negative experience last time felt bad and unfair, especially given the fact that I have spent a lot of money here and I referred a lot of customers (no more referrals!). Not my go to bike shop any more!
Reason: They changed the tube for my friend's bike but after the change, tire was getting flat after 2 days (without even riding the bike). Unfortunately, due to my travels I could not bring back the bike to the shop immediately, and my friend was busy too so when I came back recently (3 months after getting the new tube) I took it to them to explain the problem, i told the whole story with all the timelines and details to one of the employees and he told me they will fix again, at no charge, no problem. I brought the bike the next day and they charged me for the new tube because I did not bring it to the shop as soon as possible, i brought it 3 months later and they said that was too late to change the faulty tube they installed. 3 months is too long? - fair enough, but as a long time customer, it did not feel fair to me so not my go to bike shop any more!
Also, the tone in this visit was unnecessarily rude and I paid again for the new tube. They asked us to check the tube for leaks by literally putting the tube next to our ears and try listening for any leaks. After listening for leaks we put the tube aside, and a minute later it explodes, what if it exploded in our ear?
Feels bad! I am just wondering was it worth it to lose a long time loyal customer who spent $$$ here and referred a lot of people to this shop over some faulty cheap tube?
Old review: ” fixed my giant road bike here. they did a good quality job at a good price and super fast. After this experience, they will be my go...
Read moreMixed Experience: Friendly Service, but Major Damage to E-Bike Motor I am writing this review with mixed feelings. The staff at Repair Bike Shop were consistently friendly and apologetic, and they put in significant effort to try and resolve a serious problem, but ultimately, the outcome was a non-functional bike. Initial Service: I brought my electric bike in for a straightforward brake installation, which was completed quickly, and I paid the $30 fee. The Major Issue: Immediately upon receiving the bike, the motor was completely non-functional. The shop staff acknowledged that the damage may have occurred during the brake installation, which was appreciated. They then attempted to repair the damage free of charge over the next two months. The Outcome: Despite their considerable time and effort over an eight-week period, the issue was not fixed. I was eventually told that the shop could not diagnose or repair the problem and that I needed to contact the motor/battery manufacturer directly. While I appreciate that they did not charge me for the two months of attempted repairs, I am now left with a broken e-bike motor after bringing it in for a simple brake service. I paid $30 for brakes but received a bike that is essentially unusable. No compensation was offered for the damage or the two months I was without my primary transport. Conclusion: The staff is genuinely nice and hard-working, but I cannot recommend them for e-bike services, as my experience suggests they may lack the specialized expertise needed for electric components. They inadvertently damaged my bike during a basic service and were unable to fix the problem they caused. Final Rating: 2/5 Stars (The 2 stars are purely for the friendly staff and the effort they put into the unpaid repairs, not for the quality...
Read moreAbysmal service. Took my road bike in, spoke to the technician and asked him to check my chain for wear and replace if necessary and check bearings in free hub body as there was too much play. To my surprise the bike was "ready" a few short hours later when the technician assured me that the chain was fine and had many more miles on it and that the free hub just needed tightening and charged me $38 for a "tune up". These both turned out to be absolute falsehoods. I took the bike out later that day and continued to have problems with the free hub, so I took it back to Simon's the next day. The same technician pretended not to remember me, was incredibly rude (including not calling to let me know later that day when the bike was "ready" again), tried to insinuate that these were cheap wheels which was the cause of the problem (they're not by the way), and preceded to then suggest the only way to fix the problem was to tighten the hub so much that the wheel would barely rotate. Complete incompetence paired with terrible service! If you don't have the skills to repair it that's fine, but don't pretend you do, charge me for it and rudely insinuate otherwise.
Upon taking the bike to a proper shop later on, the problem was correctly diagnosed as a bearing failure in the free hub and a chain that was very well worn which, left as a result of the incorrect assessment at Simon's, resulted in the cassette also now needing to be replaced.
If you're a serious cyclist, don't bother with these guys, you probably know more than they do and you'll just end up wasting time and money and going...
