The Gathering Place Community Centre — Local services in Vancouver

I find it crazy that a community centre who is there to help But trample on human rights under the Canadian charter of rights I complained about services foe two years Laundry coming back wet As seen in pictures air return vents filthy with dust bunnies foe over two years before anything was even looked at Dallas does a poor job running this place

[The gathering place have you witnessed abusive treatment of people from the staff who have no sensitivity training at all ir even I understand the challenges of being homless ans in need of help

have you complained about any laundry services or health service or even the food being produced for sale food can be over seasoned with pepper soup on most days

has your complaints landed on deaf ears you can contact the ubc law students who can help you understand how and what you can do when the gathering place over steps and steps on your human rights as they have done to me on many occasion

email your ombudsmen or call 311 and make a complaint about things you have seen or witnessed Call the UBC law students who will bring any legitimate complaints to the human rights tribunal as they have done for me your human right are real and need to be addressed you have rights if you complained to management on site IT WILL MOT BE ADDRESSED TO ANY KIND OF REAL CONSIDERATION this i know from personal knowledge ive now talking to ubc law students foe help in addressing these issues with the human right for peoy with...

I been reading the comments to see if other people felt the same about the staff and their is comment after comment about how the staff is not helpfull they go out of there way to make things harder for the homeless as if things arnt hard enough as it is. I understand its not a low stress environment but at the sametime its a job and a very important one at that and if your not able perform on that level there is always someone that can. There are always going to be people doing the bare minimum..im guilty of doing it for years. Its a whole differnt situation when dealing with all these different delicate souls, it takes a certain type of person we already feel down and out and for people to talk down to us in a leval of authority is disgusting. Personaly i think it should be a mandatory class in high school to volunteer for things like this and have staffing as well but if this gets intagrated with kids at a young level. I think we will see less and less of this type of thing with the current staff more or less lossing motivation, which i bet they had wene they started in the customer service field. I hope once this pandemic is over this place could shine brighter than any community center ever did. I volunteered about 20 years ago. I learn to sculpt and pottery I even got the chance to become a protégé to one of Vancouver first Nation sculptor Blake Hebert for almost 5 years to this day I still remain grateful for having taken the time to teach me how to be myself and enjoy my craft. He was also the person responsible for making my life a greater success in love as he introduced me to the person who I had the fortune of sharing my journey with for nearly 13 years. How much can I say about the Gathering place it's a place we're the staff do the utmost for the lesser know members, the old as the young they are treated with respect which is becoming a rarity since Covid19 has settled foot day after days.
