I would like to give Poker Hostal 3.5/5 if Trip Advisor would let me.||Pros: ||The owner was really nice and helpful, and got anything done you asked which was great. The room we got was spacious and had a TV with cable, wardrobes, desk and a balcony.||The bathroom is small, but fully functional and cleaned regularly. The shared shower on the first floor was lovely and hot.||Breakfast was tasty, we usually got a hot drink, juice, a ham & cheese croissant/sandwich and cereal.||The location was perfect, near many shops, restaurants and cafes. We loved strolling down the road and watching musicians play, and the small artisan market.||Cons:||The hot water in the shower on second floor was just tepid, we ended up going downstairs for a hot shower.||The kitchen wasn’t as functional as we hoped. It had a microwave, kettle and cooking ring but it wasn’t practical to cook there, plus the kitchen area wasn’t the cleanest. The fridges needed a good scrub.||As we were on the road side there was quite a bit of noise being city centre. We used ear plugs most nights so if you’re sensitive to noise come prepared! ||Breakfast service and quality differed depending on who was working. We had to ask for spoons for cereal every day which may seem trivial but it would be useful to have them on the counter. ||All being said we extended our stay here while we waited for flight prices to drop to Calama.||It’s a good budget stay in a...
Read moreI stayed here in a double room with shared bathroom in October 2015 and had a good stay. We were only there one night, arrived early afternoon and left very early the next morning to catch a flight. The staff were really nice and allowed us to check in early and then the next day even prepared and left a little breakfast for us to take with us. The room was very comfortable and had good wifi connection. The bathroom was right next door and quite small, but clean. The location was very convenient with tons of restaurants and cafes just outside. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are looking for a cheap and comfortable option, but don't want to...
Read moreWe stayed in a double with shared bathroom and were really happy with our room, it even had its own little balcony. The bathroom is tiny but manageable, although if a larger person the shower could be difficult. |The kitchen also is small with limited facilities but we managed to cook 2 meals in there. Breakfast is simple and average but fills you up.|The staff are pleasant but not overly friendly apart from one of the girls who works reception and checked us in was really nice and helped us practise our Spanish (I wish I’d have gotten her name).|We’d use this place again when in Santiago if we were on a budget and wanted a private room...
