Quitral — Restaurant in Santiago

Well Lastarrio is the food Mecca of Santiago and Quitral is one of the high flyers, we weren’t that hungry unfortunately after a late lunch so just opted for mains, we chose the blue cheese salmon and the pork short ribs, the salmon was cooked perfectly still pink in the middle and the ribs were succulent with the spicy mash amping up the flavour. Our waiter Jhonn was efficient and very timely, excellent service , and good value. What more can you ask for! On another night a couple of weeks later we tried Peztoral next door but they had no English menu and couldn’t be bothered with us so we ended up here again, Maurizio was our waiter and he was great, the food was again exquisite, stuffed capsicum and then pork loin risotto with mushrooms were both excellent. To top it off we had churros with whisky sauce...

For our 1st dinner in Santiago Chile, we got several recommendations from our hotel concierge, then wandered the nearby streets looking at the menus and atmosphere. We chose Quitral due to the selections of local fishes, the atmosphere, and a phenomenonal waiter, Marcos. He helped us pick a great outdoor table so we could follow the busy scene, but not feel crowded. He also helped with our wine choice, and had the bar chill my vodka to my specification. We were looking forward to eating steak at a place nearby but they weren’t taking any new customers so we stumbled upon this place simply due to being empty. After eating here, we were mind blown to why it was so vacant (this could have been due to timing tho).

The food was great and so was the service! Everything tasted amazing and was really happy about this being the first full meal in Santiago.

Food: ordered the steaks medium rare (seems to be the recommendation as well) for tender loin and angus skirt steak with sides of potatoes and grilled veggies. Personally, skirt steak is my recommendation. Appetizer was the mixed ceviche. All dishes we recommend!

Definitely worth trying if...
