I recently had the pleasure of visiting Joe Bananas, a newly opened club and bar located in the vibrant Knutsford Terrace area of Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this place is destined to become a lively hotspot. The atmosphere was electric, with a great vibe that just beckoned you to have a good time.
The staff were commendable, with the manager standing out for his exceptional service. He was attentive and genuinely interested in ensuring we had a fantastic experience, which certainly set the tone for our evening. The live band was another highlight, playing a diverse mix of music that catered to everyoneโs tastes. The dance floor was packed, and it was impossible not to get swept up in the infectious energy of the crowd.
As for the food and drinks, we were pleasantly surprised. The dishes we ordered were delicious, perfectly complementing the fun atmosphere, and the drinks were well-crafted and refreshing. However, itโs worth mentioning that as the night progressed, the club became increasingly crowded, which led to some unfortunate experiences.
As we settled in with our group of eight celebrating 4 of their birthdays that night, we noticed that some unruly patrons began encroaching on our seating space. Despite the staff being present, they didnโt seem to address the situation effectively. It became quite uncomfortable when a group of people chose to ignore our requests to move, only deciding to vacate the seats when I pointed out that they would need to contribute to the bill if they intended to stay.
The situation escalated when one individual started causing disturbances, deliberately bumping into us and attempting to instigate conflict. He claimed he was the owners son and that he could do whatever he wanted. The lack of intervention from the staff was disappointing, and ultimately, it forced us to leave the club earlier than we had hoped, especially since we had a group of women with us who felt uncomfortable.
To add insult to injury, upon reviewing our bill, we discovered that we had been charged 2100 HKD for a bottle of Glenfiddich that we ordered during happy hour. This price is outrageous, considering it retails for less than 300 HKD. It felt like a serious misstep in providing value for customers, especially in a city known for its vibrant nightlife.
In summary, while Joe Bananas has the potential to be an incredible place with its lively atmosphere, talented musicians, and great staff, the management needs to address crowd control and customer safety more effectively. Our experience ended on a sour note, despite the promising start. I hope they take this feedback to heart and make the necessary adjustments, as I would love to see this place thrive...
