Avoid for Tourists: Limited Payment Options and Poor Service

This establishment is a definite no-go for tourists, as they strictly refuse overseas credit/debit cards, leaving cash as your sole payment choice. Our experience with the service was deeply disappointing, especially with the young man on duty. Despite our attempts to pay using multiple credit cards and even exploring alternative payment methods like WeChat, our efforts were met with rudeness rather than assistance. The staff member bluntly informed us that only Chinese or Hong Kong cards were acceptable, without even attempting to accommodate our situation by trying our WeChat QR or offering any other payment solution.

During our week-long stay in Hong Kong, encountering such an inflexible payment policy was unexpected and inconvenient, particularly given the significant bill amounting to around HKD1,100. What made the situation even more frustrating was that even smaller establishments in the area readily accepted credit cards, often for much smaller transactions. While we did encounter places that imposed a surcharge for transactions below a certain threshold, never before had we encountered a store outright declining foreign credit cards.

In light of our experience, we strongly recommend that this establishment implement clear signage indicating their "cash only" policy or their limited acceptance of foreign cards, such as "no foreign cards except China/local." It's 2024, and it's hard to believe that such outdated payment practices still persist. As tourists, we expect businesses to keep up with modern payment solutions to ensure a smoother and more enjoyable experience for all customers.

Food wise: vegetable was very bitter, roasted meat platter was ok. Only the roast goose was good (if you like orange...

Let me tell u 1st that the portion (for an individual serving)... is huge. The photo deceives.

The menu is rather extensive. The restaurant does the "full range" of roasted meats - duck, goose, char siew, suckling pig and crispy pork (shao rou). Additionally, alot of other dishes for sharing - fish, carbs, veggies, etc. Main attraction is the roasted meats of course.

We were there about 8ish pm. Short Q but it moved quite fast. We were seated in about what seems like 20mins of waiting. In a very HK style, we had to "share table" since it was only 3 of us. Very communal style, which was quite fun. The restaurant, was packed.

Flipping through the menu, we decided it was best to have individual servings and ordered what we liked, than to share. They have several options to choose what you wanna combine too - i had the roasted goose leg with char siew. So good.

The char siew comes in thick fatty chunks. The bite is super shiok (satisfying, delicious). The marinate, is good. The goose leg, juicy and meaty. Its not tough and coupled with the plum sauce, very yummy. The amount of rice, is nuts. Alot. But with that insane sauce drizzled on it, its very addictive.

Oh.. they seem to have a soup of the day which isnt on the menu.. the group beside us casually asked and was told the above. It was 20HKD a bowl i believe. A soup with quite a few basic veg ingredients - winter melon, gou qi zi, carrots... i suppose that changes daily. I regretted not asking.

#recommended. Oh. Service - not bad actually. The staff though extremely busy, responds quickly when u call them over. The food is served quite fast too (but thats probably because we ordered what only requires chopping up and serving)..

Food + a iced milk tea:...

Amazing taste for most of the menu! Highly recommend the roast goose, the taste is great and the goose is quite good size . Not small at all . Taste very good . Second menu , will be the tradition bbq pork , the meat is tender , sweet and it’s perfectly marinate so that there is no pork smell. For the roast pork , its above average skin is crunchy and no bad pork smell which is perfect prepared. Next , the fish menu , grouper with garlic ( menu no 238 ) & hot & sour fish ( menu no 233) both is good too . The fish is fresh and deliciously sweet. Lastly for the vegetable , the vegetables menu no 2 and 5 is my perfect choice with stir fried garlic . Yummy 😋 The shop design is clean and comfortable . The staffs are super friendly and fast in action. They work like they know you are hungry. Good staff team in this restaurant to operate as a famous Michelin guide shop. Price wise, I think for the price and the portion and the taste and the hygiene you are paying . I guessed it’s a good value for money. Hope it doesn’t increase price before my return. For those in wheelchairs , please ask staff to arrange table for dine in . It’s possible . This is also a great place for kid and family. Vegetarian menu , there are a few good options. Taste good too. Street parking is available in shop front. Overall , I will definitely come back for roast goose , bbq pork , vegetable no 2 . This shop is one of my favourite...
