This place is outside of the main tourist draw of the city centre, but well worth the detour. You'll be entering the mine in a mine cart, which is a unique experience by itself. Once inside, it is really a wondrous thing to wander the empty tunnels, seeing all the equipment rusting away. While not a natural cave, the rust, graphite veins, glitter of fool's gold, and limestone stalactites is a magical sight. The only downside is that our guide did not speak English. While there is an information paper, judging from our Czech speaking co-visitors, this really is no replacement for the guide itself. Even so, the mine tour is very recommended. Make sure to book ahead (by phone call or email, other staff speaks English) during the busy months. Also, make sure to bring something to keep you warm: it is 10 degrees Celsius year...

This tour has potential but fails to deliver for international visitors, starting from the moment you try to visit. There is no way to book tickets online, and the advertised 9:00 AM opening was misleading—we arrived early only to find the first tour wasn't until 10:00, forcing a long wait. The execution of the tour itself was also lacking. We were explicitly told it would be in English, but only the safety rules were. The actual tour was conducted entirely in Czech, with English speakers given a basic summary sheet. We missed out on all the detailed information and history that was being shared. Czech visitors seemed to enjoy it, but for us, it was a frustrating experience. Unless you speak Czech, I would hesitate to...

Relatively young graphite mine with authentic tooling left on place. Good place for rainy days. Good price /value.

At the entrance, visitors are equipped with protection coats, boots, helmets and original mining lamps. Then we were seated into miner's train which took us in the middle of the mountain. While walking, various mining equipment was shown to us while exploring dark corners with our headlamps. The tour ends at the foot of the mountain.
