Krčma Markéta — Restaurant in okres Český Krumlov

First, it's a bit complicated to find and can't tell if it's open from the looks outside but the smell of the wood fire sends the signal that it's the right place to have a decent meal. :)

The ambience is just perfect, I would say. Around the candle-lighted surrounding gets the dishes grilled right in front of your eyes on a fireplace next to a pile of chopped woods and the smell of it makes you wanna try everything they offer.

We had grilled camambert cheese with herb butter as a starter. I am personally not a great fan of camambert but this happened to be the best cheese I've ever had. Grilled pork knee was thoroughly cooked and I'd never thought that grilled pork skin(almost caramelized) can be so delicious. Beef steak was a bit too well done but still very tasty. Skewer was the best combination of meat, sausage(so aromatic!!) and vegetables.The salad that comes out with the steak and skewer had the perfect tasting sweet and sour dressing. :D Last but not least, you gotta try their dark beer!

We arrived early for lunch and were seated right away. We have heard that the place can be really busy during rush hour, even though it’s quite a bit away from the city center. We ordered a soup and a appetizer, grilled vegetables, potato pancakes, ribs and pork chops. The foods were grilled right in front of us. The ribs and pork chops were great, juicy on a the inside, slightly burnt on the outside. Best meat we had in Chezk. Prices are fine too. Very cozy and nice place, atmospheric. But the waitress is grumpy and doesn't speak English at all. Beware of cans of water, they ask 50 kron for it. For toilet you need to take one time ticket from the grumpy waitres each time you want to go. But the meat worth it. It's the real good grilled meat you expect to...
