What an experience me and my girlfriend had at Krumauer Mühle.... On a beautiful day in Ceský Krumlov we were looking for a space on their beautiful terras along the water. We were rudely told to go sit inside because there was no outside seating available. Luckily, a spot became free and we were able to sit outside. After receiving the menu, we were waiting quite the while until someone decided it was time to attend to our table. We ordered two glasses of white wine, goulash soup to start, and fish & pork for main. The service was cold, but swift. Firstly, when receiving our drinks, I guess someone decided it would be fun to serve one of our glasses of wine with a straw, as if we came freshly out of kindergarten. It was my first time tasting goulash soup, and I was pleasantly surprised (would definitely recommend). However, our enthusiasm quickly left after receiving our main course within five minutes of ordering our food. The pork served with a variety of dumplings was terrible, the pork was grey and bland, served with dry dumplings. My girlfriend had the fish (which was also dry), which upon cutting open smelled worse than our socks after a full summer day of hiking through Ceský Krumlov. While we were eating, a stray cat decided to come and greet us. We tried to offer it some of our food, but even the cat wouldn't eat it! Our entire experience was over within 25 minutes. No tip. Read moreThis place looked inviting, but unfortunately a number of niggles stopped us enjoying the meal. It was too cold to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of CK. Our waiter was fine and attended to us helpfully. The food came very quickly, within minutes. I had the duck leg, which was small, and dry on the outside, served with two sorts of local dumplings. Two of our party had the roast beef, once again served with local dumplings which looked like bread, but small portions of beef in an admittedly tasty sauce. The fourth person had schnitzel with potato salad, which was the best of the four meals. The food wasn't good value.
Lastly, we were there on 5.10, and the main door was open. The whole room was cold enough to need coats on. As a group of 4 we sat at a smaller table which happened to be near an outside door which was used by the staff, and had a sign asking for it to be closed after use. Many of the staff failed to close it after using it, and when I asked one of them to do so he did, but rolled his eyes at me. I lost count of the number of times I had to get up and close it. A small niggle, but spoiled our enjoyment.
I honestly can't recommend this place, it was too expensive for what it was. There are better places...

Vstúpite do príjemnej reštaurácie. Ticho. Samota. Až príliš veľa voľných stolov na to, aby ste si pripadali pohodlne. Po podlahe, čo príjemne tlmí kroky, prejdete k otvoreným dverám. Tam vás čaká armáda stolov pripravených ako na pohovor, a čašníci, ktorí sa tvária, že ste ich prvý hosť za posledné tri dni.
Po usadení máte dokonalý výhľad na Vltavu. Teda, na to, čo z nej ostalo. Bahnitý breh vás delí od vody a ak máte upchatý nos, gratulujem – ste výherca.
A potom to príde. Jedálny lístok. Plný dobrôt, ktoré sa tvária, že tu majú dlhšiu tradíciu než samotná rieka. A vy, samozrejme, idete rovno na legendárne špecle.
Ten moment, keď vám ich konečne prinesú (po tom, čo ich najprv skúšobne ponúknu inému stolu), je ako predohra k niečomu veľkému. Nedočkavosť je vyšponovaná na maximum.
A teraz pivo. Objednáte si malé rezané. Čašník, polyglot s plynulosťou v šiestich jazykoch – len nie vo vašom – vám s úsmevom donesie veľké. Lebo veď načo robiť veci podľa zadania, keď ich možno robiť lepšie? Jednoznačne plusový bod. Tento človek vie, že zákazník nie vždy vie, čo chce.
A teraz hlavný akt večera – špecle. Ako jedlo zo Zakázaného stromu: suché a zároveň vlhké, s prikrývkou syra tak hrubou, že by ste z nej mohli ušiť sveter. Chuť? Ako čistý papier. Ale ten najkvalitnejší. Vaša fantázia je šéfkuchárom a každé sústo chutí podľa vašej nálady.
Z času na čas sa zastaví čašník s nenápadným upozornením: „Dopite, nesiem ďalšie.“ Aký úžasný pocit dôležitosti.
A špecle? Boli také výdatné, že sme sa z nich najedli šiesti. Najviac v šoku bol samotný kuchár – nie z toho, že sme to zjedli, ale že si to vôbec niekto objednal. Táto udalosť spustila šokovú vlnu, ktorá sa niesla kuchyňou, obsluhou, až po nás – a vlastne trvá dodnes.
Záverečný akt? Spláchnutie. Nie jedla, ale zážitku. So slzami v očiach. Či už dojatia, alebo... niečoho iného.
Špecle. Slovo, ktorým to celé začalo. A presne tým aj končí.
Ak niekedy zablúdite do tejto reštaurácie, nenechajte sa odradiť prázdnymi stolmi, čašníkom, ktorý vám rozšíri pivný horizont, ani výhľadom na zablatený breh. Objednajte si špecle.
Lebo ak niečo človek v živote ľutuje, tak to nie je zlé jedlo. Ale zlé...
