So another place in the heart of Paris that disappointed me. I attended a showcase which was really good. However, when I arrived an hour early, the hostess gave me an option to sit directly in the back center where I assumed I’d see all of the entertainment. As the show starts the wait staff crowds the view way as if I’m not enjoying the show. When I mentioned something to the waiter he asks the other staff members to clear the way and that didn’t happen. So after getting frustrated enough I asked to move closer and that said manager that was blocking the way tells me I can sit at the table that he was standing in front of; the same table he could’ve sat at to record the show. This is where I knew it was time for me to exit the building… When the showcase was fini, the manager then tells me I can go back to my seat as if I was not welcomed to see the next show or as if I was enjoying myself in the back corner away from humanity. Let me be clear because I know some people reading this review will say “ you chose the seat!” Yes I chose the seat before everyone arrived thinking it was gonna be a full house and where I had chosen was perfect to see the entertainment head on. Furthermore, when you work in hospitality you should be conscious of the customers regardless of difference to your normal clientele. At first I thought I was underdressed, then I thought I chose the wrong seat when in reality I believe they were not welcoming to my very melanated skin or my urban streetwear. At this point I’m used to the world treating me (and people alike) just like this. Just thought I’d share my experience. Very much Rosa Parks treatment after dropping over 50€ (as a struggling artist) for my meal and attempting to enjoy my night out! Thank you for reminding me where I stand in this...
Read moreThis restaurant lives on hype. If you love the Hotel Costes and their attitude, this is the place for you. I’ve been living in France for the last two months, and I have found so many wonderful people and restaurants within this city that do not act the way that this restaurant does. The wait staff could not have been nicer, but the attitude at the front door is terrible. We were seated in a stair hall at the top of the stairs in basically what would be a service bar. We requested to sit in the main dining room, and we’re told that there were no tables available despite the fact that there was happening an empty restaurant. Additionally, we were running about 15 minutes late and out of courtesy I tried to call them and let them know that we were behind, and their system goes straight to voicemail with no opportunity to speak to a I reservationist. Despite 3 people standing at the hostess stand. Food was good. I wouldn’t necessarily call it great in a city where you can get great food. It’s the perfect restaurant for a large party. It is a terrible restaurant for an intimate dinner. Finally, this is the first restaurant in Paris that I have seen that their point of sale system when you use a credit card invites you to leave a 10%, 15% or 20% tip to the bill. I don’t like these machines in the United States, and I certainly do not like it in France. This kind of tipping has never been...
Read moreOur table was booked at 10:30 and didn’t get seated until 11:15 until we had to ask again about our table. The restaurant wasn’t even busy with loads of empty tables, so I’m not sure why it took that long to be seated. The food came out cold and the portions were small. We all were given seafood dishes that we didn’t ask for. Every time we asked for a drink we waited atleast 20 - 30 minutes until we got it and some orders were completely forgotten about. The worst part of all was there wasn’t even a countdown into the New Year which I think is absolutely unbelievable, we booked this place especially for the atmosphere and we didn’t even know it was the new year until we checked our phones, I was told that they don’t celebrate new years in Paris like anywhere else in the world hence there not being a countdown which is complete and utter rubbish. We managed to get some money taken off of the bill and I will praise some of the staff for being polite and I am grateful for that but I will never...
