This was my second Flavors of Paris Tour with Lisa (had done it with a friend several years ago), and once again, it was the highlight of my trip to Paris! I wanted my husband to experience this tour with Lisa because, as she takes you through the Saint-Germaine-des-Prés neighborhood, you learn not only about the food, but the history and culture as well. You truly experience Paris from the inside. We stopped at several establishments on our walk, sampling and tasting at each stop. The first was the Maison Kayser bakery, where we sampled several delicious breads, croissants and baked goodies. We then stopped in a little shop where they sell canned sardines, tuna and mackerel. Their factory is at the fishing port where everything is processed and packaged at the source. My husband tried the sample and loved it. Personally, I’m not big on fish, but I thought the shop itself was beautiful. We went to a chocolate shop and sampled macaroons and hot chocolate (to die for). On to Maison Bremond 1830, where we tasted olive oils, flavored vinegars, marmalades and sweets. Here’s where I stop to tell you, that not only are all the foods we sampled amazing, but EVERY shop was like a work of art. They are beautifully kept and the pride the shopkeepers have in their establishments is evident. Our final stop was the Covered Market. Wow! Fresh meats at the butcher, fresh fish and yummy fresh cheeses and of course wine! We sat outside with Lisa and sampled many cheeses with a glass of wine. It doesn’t get any better than this!! Throughout our tour, Lisa talked about the various foods we were sampling, and the shops we visited. The shopkeepers all know Lisa and they took very good care of us. The Flavors of Paris Tour is not only a feast for the eyes, but a party for your...
Read moreMy wife and I have visited Paris many times and the Marais has always been one of our favorite areas. We wanted to see, taste and know more about this wonderful neighborhood. So, with a little internet searching we found the “Flavorful Marais” tour with the Flavors of Paris and signed up before leaving the USA.
We met our guide Lisa, along with two of her very knowledgeable friends on a Tuesday morning on the Rue Saint-Antoine near the Metro line 1 exit. Lisa and her two friends, Fran and Charlotte, all spoke excellent English and shared a ton of information about the Marais and Paris in general.
During our walking tour we visited a salon de the where we had coffee and delicious pastries from the shop next door. After enjoying lots of interesting conversation and discussion about food and the Marais we moved to shopping at a boulanger, fromage shop and a marvelous fruit & vegetable stand. Then a picnic in the Place does Vosges. Then it was time to eat again in a cute little place where we had a glass of wine and a croque monsieur.
The tour concluded with a walk through the Jewish quarter of the Marais. There are many delicious looking shops here also.
A very lovely and delicious time exploring the Marais with Lisa....
Read moreFlavors of Paris was amazing to work with and I would highly recommend then based on my experience! I was only going to be in the city on Sunday and although the tour was normally not offered on that day they opened up a tour on Sunday just for me and my sister. Will, who led the scent journey, was extremely helpful with finding my signature scent even though I was a bit of a problem child. We started off by discussing what I was looking for in a fragrance, what scents I like, and what scents I’ve tried before. After getting a general direction, he took us down a shopping street that had so many scent shops as well as into department stores that offered a huge variety of brands. He was extremely patient while I sniffed scent after scent and in the end I found two perfumes that I loved! Even after the tour was over he texted me other options that he thinks I would like and should test before purchasing one. Overall, this was a great experience and I learned so much about what the various perfumeries offer on top of finding some fragrances that are...
