There are too many good patisseries in Paris to count. If you're here as a tourist, I recommend you try this place out for the unique, Japanese inspired flavors of French pastries and macarons.
It's a small store that allows you to do take out. They have a beautiful selection of sweets as well as chocolates/cookies pre-packed. Everything looked pristine and the theme was white which made the vibrant colors of their offerings stand out.
We ended up getting 3 macarons: black sesame, Houjicha, and wasabi. We also purchased a matcha and red bean cake. Everything was delicious; we consumed the macarons outside of the store and I can tell you that the wasabi one was quite good (don't be afraid to try it). We took the cake for a walk as we roamed around and finally got a chance to eat it about an hour and a half later. It had fallen over by that point but though it no longer looked perfect and the cream was no longer chilled, it was still absolutely delicious. They didn't include any plastic cutlery, but we stopped by a Starbucks and snatched some up there.
There were many other flavors and items I would have loved to try. The prices are somewhat okay for the most part and the staff was nice overall. They don't seem to know much English though. There is a minimum €10 purchase for...
Read moreJapanese-inspired French desserts, now that's a win-win anytime in my book. Of course, I can't get enough of anything matcha or green tea flavored so naturally I had to try out this patisserie.
Sadaharu Aoki is a Japanese chef patissier who formerly worked for Jean Millet and at Frédy Girardet, a three Michelin star restaurant in Switzerland. He is a pastry legend, so it was a delight to be able to visit one of these shops.
The selection of pastries is overwhelming, but I ultimately selected one matcha croissant. You can expect many other desserts though, such as yuzu tarts, matcha rolls, genmaicha and matcha and black sesame eclairs, matcha millefeuilles, and matcha Paris Brest.
My matcha croissant was amazing. The matcha is distinct and pairs wonderfully with the soft and flaky croissant. I devoured my croissant and immediately wanted another. I hope to stop by in the future on another visit to Paris for more...
Read moreI visited a number of patisseries around Paris on my last trip, and Sadaharu Aoki was my favorite overall. We went several times throughout the week as it was close to my hotel. The small cakes here were especially stunning. Each one was unique, full of flavor, with perfect texture, and usually with that delicious dacquoise base that you just don’t find where I am from. They had all sorts of traditional French as well as Japanese fusion flavors. Service was friendly and the lady just smiled politely as I butchered French. Crowds were pretty sedate as well. Highly...
