I had a very disappointing experience at Capvin in Berlin—both in the past and more recently. Although the place is always packed and seems to be popular, my experiences have been far from pleasant.
Two years ago, while sitting outside, my bag was stolen. Unfortunately, their security camera didn’t cover the area I was sitting in, so there was nothing they could do. Despite that, I decided to give the restaurant another try this year, hoping things had improved.
The first time I came back with a friend, we were told they couldn’t take any more guests because they had run out of pizza dough. Fair enough. We returned the next day and were told they were fully booked again, but we could still order takeaway. So we did.
The inside was extremely crowded and chaotic. When our pizzas were finally ready, we realized they had forgotten the drinks we also ordered. The pizzas cheese (big buffalo mozzarella) wasn’t cut— when we asked for them to be cut, the staff seemed annoyed.
We also asked if the ice could be removed from one of our drinks (we ordered iced tea), and the bartender responded rudely, then poured the drink out through his hands (!!!!)) after throwing away the straws. It was honestly quite unhygienic and off-putting.
To top it off, they didn’t provide lids or paper napkins, which made eating in the park difficult. And finally—quite shockingly—I found a hair in my pizza, which looked like it belonged to one of the staff.
Overall, the entire experience—from the service to the hygiene—was disappointing and unpleasant. I won’t...
Read moreWell, how do I know that they are selling quality pizza? First of all I could eat 1 full and a half pizzas - which I never could at any other pizza places ever in my life ! - while I did not feel blown in my stomach or full to the point where I felt uncomfortable. I simply felt satisfied and my stomach was relaxed. Probably they do not put their pizza dough full of yeast and other flavor enhancer like others do, instead, I assume, they are working with high standard ingredients. That's what I felt on my stomach at least. Second, my bro is making pizzas professionally and he fully agreed. Third: As far as I am aware, the owner is a world champion pizza johlo... well that sais something, so no wonder... Too bad, I don't live in Berlin, otherwise I would go there frequently, coz it's really hard nowadays to find quality food in this country instead of all the garbage people are fed with, that blows the stomach, makes one feel uncomfortable. The most surprising thing to me was the price though ! They were not really more expensive than those other big chains selling full blown cr.p ! I wish there would be a Capvin in Hamburg as well! Only improvement the pizzeria could make is putting out the owen into the display to show people how the pizza is being made. That would attract more passangers from the street coz this pizzeria definitely...
Read moreI came here last Friday night as I wanted to try the special pizzas made for the Pizza week. We ordered after 10 min we seated but we waited for the pizzas more than 1 hour. Pizza tasted good but nothing so special. Borders were also a bit burnt. Unfortunately, service and ambience were really disappointing also this time. Everyone around was frustrated by the long waiting time and also it was quite cold in the restaurant as they always leave the door open not considering that there are tables right in front of it. Also when we asked to the waitress to change table as it was too cold and we didn't want to eat with our jackets on, she ignored us. Then we asked someone else and we got the okay. We moved to another table but none of the waiters helped in bringing our drinks, foods and cutlery to the other table. Also their menu changed into worse as most pizzas are overpriced for the offer. It's the second time I had a disappointing experience in the last few months. It's a pity because it used to be one of my fav pizza places. I won't...
