I understand that in this area the rents are very expensive and the place is definitely kept as new and very clean (which is rare in Berlin); but the prices are still definitely too high for Greek cuisine. I find it unfair that a fast food restaurant like this has higher prices than the average Greek restaurant (not fast food, restaurant) in Berlin. I asked to sit in the room with the tables but they told me that that is only for large groups (the restaurant was empty) and so they placed me at a very small table next to the entrance (see photo). The waitresses are young, cute and smiling, but not all of them speak German and not all of them have experience in serving. For a youth club with a hipster feel (as this area of Berlin expects) the lack of Wi-Fi is a flaw that needs to be remedied as soon as possible. You can only pay by credit card. Waiting times are on average long, but acceptable, even with the place semi-empty, orders arriving from outside slow down the service. I ordered a lamb pita for 10 euros, the quality of the food is incredible. Optimal! Everything excellent. Also for vegan. The pita, the vegetables, the potatoes, the meat. Wow. But a criticism must be made. As you can see from the photos, there was little lamb. Less potatoes and more lamb if you make me pay 10 euros for it. But compliments to the chefs. In this, restaurant prices are legitimized, because the cuisine here is better than many other Greek restaurants I have tried. All the products are good and the chefs are good. Ultimately: Expensive place, meh service, super quality of food...
Read moreI have been living in Berlin for more than one year and used to come here (or order for delivery) almost once a week because I used to love this place. Lately something has changed. The last two times I ordered for delivery, one time I got delivered the wrong Pita and the second time an almost empty Pita without sauces (which is fine mistakes happen). Today I went there for lunch and to begin with I got a pita and there wasn’t sauce in it. Then it was added but It didn’t taste good, it was dry and the flavors were not well mixed. I told this to the owner and He said that it is always done the same way, started questioning it and refused to re make it. I do really think it is not the right way to deal with customers, especially with recurring ones. I ended up paying and not eating my lunch. It is a pity because I really used to love this place but I think me and my group of friends here in Berlin (which all love greek food) we will look for another option next time.
[As an answer to the owner review] that is exactly what I meant with not right way to deal with customers. I was the first one saying that mistakes happen, and In fact even if lately something I didn’t like happened I have never wrote bad reviews and kept going to eat there. I said I would have not gone there anymore once they refused to re make my pita, and not as a first approach as the owner is accusing me to try to blackmail them (instead of bejng sorry, and this is really bad).If they said that it would not have been a problem to remake it I would have wait because, again...
Read moreAs a Greek Berliner I was very excited to try Aplo, we went there last Tuesday with my boyfriend but we were rather disappointed. We visited during the afternoon rush, and so it’s understandable for the food to be delayed a bit but you just can’t operate a restaurant in such a central location with so little staff. The only waitress in the restaurant was very helpful and polite and attentive to the clients, but just one person can’t take on such workload all at once. The food was okay, but the portions were small and overpriced for what you get. Other than that the seating at the front of the restaurant is very small and uncomfortable and although the backspace was rather empty we were refused when we asked if we could have our lunch there instead. Kudos to the staff for their hard work, but the experience was mid and there are far superior places to enjoy Greek...
