Ristorante Maranello — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

I want to like this place so much because of their big talk about homemade pastas and marketing over their pinsa dough.

However, it is unfortunately always a bad experience at this place thanks to unprofessional, uninformed, and cold staff. Been here 3 times as I live nearby.

First 2 times: we were obviously ignored for a long time by service staff. The first time, we had to wait at least 10 minutes before a menu arrived at the table, although the restaurant was less than half-full.

Third time, a waitress informed me that warm tea could be done under the Lunch Menu option. But the tea was charged on the bill. When I raised it with the waitress who handled the bill (a different person), she insisted that she had told her colleague that the tea was not chargeable under the Lunch Menu option. She also refused to take it off the bill even though it was a service breakdown fault as we had not been informed about this.

Food is good enough, but nothing to scream about. The Arrabiata comes served with factory-supplied pre-grated parmesan cheese. The gnocchi is not Al dente at all. The flavors are acceptable but nothing special, even for Germany's standard.

All in all, will unfortunately not return nor recommend anyone who wishes to be treated fairly to this...

Am 11.11.2024 um 20:00 Uhr besuchten wir das Ristorante Maranello im Edeka Düsseldorf, begleitet von einem Freund, der hier täglich zur Mittagszeit isst. Aufgrund seiner Empfehlung hatten wir uns auf ein angenehmes Abendessen gefreut, wurden jedoch leider sehr enttäuscht.

Wir betraten das Lokal und nahmen an einem Tisch Platz. Kurz darauf fiel uns eine Kellnerin auf, die hektisch Handbewegungen in unsere Richtung machte. Die Gesten wirkten verwirrend und in keiner Weise wie ein willkommener Empfang. Da wir ihre Signale nicht verstanden, versuchten wir, ihre Aufmerksamkeit auf uns zu lenken, um Klarheit über die Situation zu bekommen. Ein Mitarbeiter aus der Küche informierte uns schließlich knapp darüber, dass das Restaurant geschlossen sei. Da es sich jedoch um die Medica-Messe handelt, die bekanntlich viele internationale Besucher anzieht, und das Restaurant zu diesem Zeitpunkt voll mit Gästen war, fanden wir dies ungewöhnlich.

Als wir uns schließlich der Kellnerin näherten, um mehr Informationen zu erhalten, wurden wir von ihr erneut mit unhöflichen Handbewegungen “aus dem Laden gewunken” – so kam es uns jedenfalls vor. Statt uns mit einem kurzen, respektvollen Hinweis über die bevorstehende Schließung zu informieren, wurde die Kommunikation auf eine Weise gestaltet, die bei uns das Gefühl erweckte, als wären wir unerwünscht. Ich erklärte ihr, dass wir diese Handzeichen nicht verstehen und sie uns einfach direkt ansprechen könnte. Daraufhin erwiderte sie knapp und ohne jeglichen Höflichkeitsanspruch in gebrochenem Englisch: „We have closed.“ Ein solches Verhalten gegenüber Gästen ist für uns absolut inakzeptabel.

Besonders enttäuschend war die Art und Weise, wie uns die blonde Kellnerin behandelte – statt einem respektvollen, professionellen Umgangston wurden wir mit herablassenden Gesten bedacht. Dies widerspricht fundamental den Erwartungen, die man an ein Restaurant in einer Großstadt während einer internationalen Messe stellen darf. Als langjährige Besucher von Düsseldorfer Restaurants hatten wir bei einem renommierten Lokal wie dem Maranello ein hohes Maß an Gastfreundschaft und Servicequalität erwartet, vor allem zu einer regulären Öffnungszeit (21:00 Uhr).

Leider hinterlässt dieser Besuch einen äußerst negativen Eindruck. In unserem Team besteht Konsens, dass wir das Ristorante Maranello zukünftig meiden werden. Wir bedauern, dass ein Restaurant, das solch ein großes Potenzial und eine treue Stammkundschaft besitzt, durch solch unhöfliches Verhalten gegenüber den Gästen seine Stellung...

We went for lunch and asked for a simple Aglio e olio for my vegan friend. They said they couldn't make it. It really says something when an Italian restaurant doesn't know how to make pasta with literally just garlic,salt and olive oil. The waitress adviced for an amatriciana, we specified to have it without cheese and speck, but yet my friend got served a pasta drowned in parmesan. I pointed it out and they quickly came back with a plate with the same pasta. They just scraped it into a new plate but it was so clear they stirred the sauce and the cheese to cover it.
