I'm surprised to find the negative reviews on this page. I can report a positive experience through this agency for the 3 day El Zotz Trek to Tikal. We had organised it in advance through Café arqueológico yaxha and paid a deposit. Dieter then had us meet with Vladimir the afternoon before the trek for the last details and the payment. The following morning we could leave our bags at the tour office and were picked up to be brought to the village where the trek starts. We had breakfast in the guide's home (Rene) and then set off. We thought the trek was amazing... The first day is on a dirt track so less spectacular but at the first campsite you already realise the proximity to the wildlife in the jungle. The guides Rene and Miguel were very professional, setting up a tent for us, carrying enough water and 3 delicious meals / enough snacks per day. From the second day the path becomes more wild and on the third (last) day it's thicker jungle. We visited in the dry season so it was very hot and sticky. You need some tolerance for heat, it was quite hard...! Throughout we saw lots of animals : howler and spider monkeys, toucans, bats, snakes, scorpions! Beautiful trees and jungle vegetation. Mayan ruins around el zotz as well as finishing in tikal of course. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Guatemala. We found it very well organised. My only negative point is that it seemed like the guides were not being paid as much as we expected from the total we had paid. Nevertheless we found the price reasonable, it would just be nice to see more go to the...
Read moreAt first we were happy with the Tikal sunset trip they booked for us and the transport to Antigua. But when we finally picked up the bus tickets to Antigua he rushed out of the office and didn’t properly explain how the tickets + route will go.. That didn’t felt like a good start of our journey.. Once we got at the busstation we realized that they didn’t tell or provided us with any voucher or details on how to get to our final destination Antigua, but only provided us with the bus tickets to Guatemala City, although we paid for Antigua. So arriving at 5AM in Guatemala City we had to arrange our own transfer and pay again 10$ each… I expect the agency to respond to this message and come up with a good explanation or solution for the extra costs we made to arrange our own transfer to our final...
Read moreBeware of fraud! A 3-day trekking tour to Tikal was booked, which had been canceled due to flooding. The owner didn't want to refund the trip to Tikal (guide transport and entrance fee) that we paid for in advance, and we had to fight back with many discussions for every single promised service. Deals were constantly changed and there were hidden costs everywhere. We had to pay the entry for Tikal the next day again with the promise that the owner would pay us back the money as soon as we came back. When we came back he said he didn't have any money and he could give us only a part of the money back and a voucher for a boat trip from Rio dulce to Livingstone. The voucher was not valid and only part of the agreed money was paid back. I can't recommend that...
