This is a nice hotel but the management have no idea about customer service and for the price you pay per night they are very cheap in how they treat you.
we originally booked directly with the hotel but their link for payment wasn't working. We tried for a week with different cards but something was wrong with their site yet they still demanded a 20% deposit. In this time, our other preferred hotels got booked out. Instead, they wanted us to send full card details in writing, which is not at all safe and quite scammy. Finally they agreed to make our reserved room available on Expedia. Not only did we pay 70USD more on Expedia, they told us after the fact that breakfast was not included any more and refused to provide it complimentary. they offer a free return shuttle to the airport. We were picked up but told they didn't have a shuttle for us for our return flight. the rooms are big but poor use of space. No where to put your clothes etc in the bathroom. No counter space or hooks. How difficult is it to add some hooks on the back of the bathroom door? only 1 small complimentary bottle of water for 2 people for the full stay. we were charged in local currency as expected but it was not close to the USD equivalent quoted by Expedia or the actual exchange rate. They made up their own rate. Toilet didn't flush well at all. Mattress sheets that don't fit leaving the mattress uncovered, stains on sheets. Hard mattress and pillows. Not a comfy sleep at all.

Read moreThis hotel could be so much better than it is. The level of service was just really poor - especially if you're English speaking. There seems to be no ability to coordinate the staff, and promises/undertakings given at reception mean nothing. Indeed, although he tried to fake it, the person at reception for most of our trip could not understand English. That didn't stop him from pretending he did so that I repeated myself 4 times, only to realise in the end that he understood nothing (he could just have told me that!). He also gave wrong information regarding the restaurant hours.||The tours/trips/transfers that the front desk would organise were extraordinarily limited - almost no options. A transfer to the airport was priced at $60USD. We were able to source it for under 1/10th of that price elsewhere. There was no tourist information. Getting service at the pool area was repeatedly promised but NEVER eventuated.||However, the room was lovely (Junior Suite) and I had a lovely view over the lake. The airconditioning worked (which was incredibly welcome). The pool is small, but so welcome after a baking hot day. The meal at the roof-top bar was great! However, with being lied to about the opening time, we were forced to use the lower one then next day, which was nowhere near as good. Breakfast was adequate there. ||Walking around the island, this is probably one of the better venues, but if they could just get a senior manager to organise the service, then it...
Read moreHotel Isla de Flores is without a doubt one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at.
It is a super cute, very colorful hotel. Whoever decorated this place knew what they were doing. I absolutely love all the colors. It had a restaurant with nice breakfast, bakery/coffee shop with lots of good pastries, and 2 bars. All decorated in different styles and colors.
The room was very clean and they change towels every day. My room on the 3rd and last floor had stunning views over the roof tops and lake. The only thing that could be negative is that you hear a lot from especially the roof top bar.
The pool is on the same floor and it has stunning views.
Accessibility vise it's not great since it, as far as I know, only had stairs and all rooms are in floor 1-3.
The staff was very accommodating and helpful. I had problems with my card when I came so they set up a credit so that I could pay later. They helped me get a private boat tour of the lake to see the sunset, which was amazing. And helped me find restaurants with vegetarian food.
The island is tiny, super cute and Soo colorful. And it's safe. The sunsets are amazing and it is very close to Tikal. I urge you to take a tour to Tikal. And if you need to travel by land to other places there's a shuttle service Marlin Espadas that I used and liked.
If I ever go back to Flores, which is now in my too list of places I've been, I would definitely stay at Hotel...
