Stayed in one of the hotel's apartments after booking over AirBnB. Spacious and comfortable, though sparsely decorated and the kitchen only has the very basics. But I only stayed for a few nights so this wasn't really a problem. The staff are some of the friendliest and most accommodating I've ever met in Guatemala, I can't fault the service here. Cleaning service/towel change was every other day, complimentary toiletries were a nice touch, and access to the pool, restaurant, and terrace was lovely.||||Just a few downsides - but none of these are actually the hotel's fault. The people in the neighbouring apartment were VERY loud and stayed up partying until 3am and then started again at 8:30am, though I did stay over Halloween/Dia de Los Muertos so it wasn't a big surprise. The second downside is that there were a lot of kids during my stay, which obviously like to run about, make noise, and splash a lot in the pool - as kids should! But if you're looking for a relaxing, quiet, child-free environment, I'd recommend that you look for a different hotel.||||All in all a very pleasant stay, certainly better than the other places I stayed...
Read moreMy family stayed two nights at Hotel Casona de la Isla while visiting Flores and Tikal. We missed our first night because of a plane maintenance issue on the way to Guatemala. The hotel waived the night without issue. We arrived early the first morning and the staff took our bags while we explored Flores for a few hours. Our kids were tired when we returned and the staff got us into our room early. ||The hotel is a jewel. The breakfast was yum and the pool was great. I ordered a large mixed drink at the bar near the pool and thoroughly enjoyed a book poolside. The location is near many bars and restaurants. The staff was helpful and printed our tickets for us (printouts required for avianca airlines). They also made us day lunches for a good price for our day trip to Tikal||the only caveat is for Flores in general — that taxis charge a bundle to pickup from and return people to the airport. I recommend a tuk tuk if any...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We loved the staff - everyone was very polite and accommodating. The hotel made us packed lunches to go for our sunrise Tikal hike, and had someone available at 3 in the morning to wait with us for our shuttle. Alexis at the front desk was very helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. As for our room, the bed was comfortable, AC was great, and all the amenities were appreciated. Fridge, microwave, filtered water, hair dryer. Complimentary breakfast and also shuttle to the airport. The cherry on top was the pool - very clean and perfect temperature. The only small downside was the discoteca located beside our room- would recommend bringing ear plugs. However the front desk can also provide some...
