We had a fantastic lunch at La Taverna del Duca during our tour bus's all-too-brief stop in Amalfi. We were excited to try Spaghetti al Limone since lemons are the taste of the region (get yourself some Limoncello, people!) and this place was the only one we found in the center of town which offered it.

Timing was a little tough (not their fault) as we were there in the late morning and they didn't start serving until noon, and pizza making doesn't start for an hour after that...but knowing this we managed to get in first and ordered what we wanted.

What we wanted was the aforementioned Spaghetti al Limone which really was fantastic...lemony without being overpowering and done without the use of cream, but still creamy and delicious. I saw another review stating to not order the Spaghetti al Limone because it's just "pasta with lemon juice." This really isn't the case at all. (Look up any pasta al Limone recipe and you'll see for yourself.) This was delicious and definitely a perfect taste representative of the region we were in.

The mixed salad was fresh looking and tasting with the surprise and welcome addition of shaved fennel in it.

The offering of bread that came with it was generous.

We also especially appreciated how their menu was clearly labeled with what was vegeterian. (And there were plenty of options.)

The only slight bummer was, even though we were first in, it took a long time to get our food and we had to rush to eat it to make it back to our bus in time.

We looked at almost every menu in this part of Amalfi before choosing La Taverna del Duca...we made the...

I just ate here . This restaurant deserves no stars . The staff is not friendly . However that would not matter so much if the food was good . The only dish that was okay or maybe even semi good was plain spaghetti pomodoro which they made for my daughter . I had pesto gnocchi which was terrible . It was way over salted and just not good . I could have forgiven that . My hubby had a bolognese that he said was ok ( he is so not picky ) however for his second he had steak pizzola. he said it was terrible which surprised me because again he is not picky . I tried a piece and honestly I could not even chew it . It was so tough and also tasteless . I tasted like days old left over microwaved food . I am positive it was not cooked to serve. Neither one of us took another bite . We asked for the check and while waiting saw the cook put our steak in a plastic bag ( hopefully for a dog ) but honestly left us wondering if the meal was pieced together from other leftovers. This meal was the worse I had it italy and possibly the worse in my life . The funny thing I can’t figure out is that I saw local Italians eating there so I was wondering if the served the tourists a different quality meal since they know we most likely will never return . Again stay clear from this restaurant. I did not look up the reviews because my air B and B host recommended it to me . The host is really wonderful so I am puzzled about that too . Makes me affirm my suspicions that maybe tourists are getting food of lesser quality . I wish I did check the reviews because most of them agree that the food is...

It was a very traumatising experience, the food is not even worth the attitude of who turned to be the manager! Just because i said that the lemonaide is too watery and i cannot sense the lemon and then the waiter who is the manager started to raise his voice making everyoneone hearing and said” we are the town of lemon and we make the best lemon and walking away from me!” It was just something made me separated from reality, like is this for real! It is so embarrassing in a pressured way cause everyone was watching and waited, i asked for the manager who turned to be him again and i wanted to pay for the cola and the water with 2 drops of lemon drink and leave but then he bought a very soury lemon that is not balanced like anyone with cooking skills or by googling the recipe you can achieve a drinkable lemonade… and he was trying to be nice because they told him im asking to pay and leave seriously this was not worth it at all, and the first day i arrived to this beauty and yeah the other waiter was asking about my religion because of my language which was uncomfortable too and personal, you can sense the trauma that i have been through over here!…. BE CAREFUL DO NOT RUIN...

We LOVE this place!! The fritto misto and pasta were the best we ever had. We stayed in Amalfi for one week and the food outperformed any other restaurant we’ve tried so we came back again and again. The fried sea food (fritto misto), fish carpaccio (carpaccio di baccala), spaghetti carbonara, spaghetti with clams (spaghetti vongole), seafood pasta (pasta frutti di mare), lemon spaghetti (spaghetti al limone), pasta with squid/limone (dish of the day) came in incredibly tasty, full of flavor and in quite big portions. The service is exceptional. Everyone is very friendly, super fast and they speak English as well, which was great for us as non-Italian speakers. We recommend this place to anyone - solo travelers, couples (like us), and families. We would also love to come back again.

PLEASE AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!! The worst pizza I had ever tried. Ordered Margherita and couldn’t even finish one piece. Unless you like pizza with 1kg of salt in it, do not go there. Told the server that I cant eat this because its too salty, to what he replied that this is how marinara sauce should taste like!! We decided to leave and to my surprise the same server brought us a bill for sparkling water (4€) although we only had tap water. When asked why charge us for tap water, he said because there’s gas in it lol (literally pointing out to tap water). Worst service I’ve ever had in Italy!!
