Terrible Experience - Rude and Discriminatory Behavior We visited Gelateria Ambrosiana Bar-Bistrot in Rome on June 29th, 2022, around 10 PM. It was our first family trip to Italy, and we were a group of two families with seven kids. The mothers in our group were wearing hijabs. We were incredibly excited and happy after enjoying a wonderful Italian dinner at another restaurant, and we decided to end the night with some delicious desserts and Italian coffee. The place looked appealing, so we chose to go in.
At first, we were greeted warmly, and although there were no available tables downstairs, a staff member guided us to the upstairs area, saying it was quiet and comfortable. We were the only guests upstairs at that time. A waiter came to take our order, and since we were a large group, we ordered over 20 itemsâa mix of desserts and drinks. The kids were eager and excited to try Italian sweets for the first time.
After about 10 minutes, another waiter appeared and, in very poor English, rudely told us that we were not welcome and that they would not serve us. He asked us to leave immediately. Shocked and hurt, we tried to understand why, especially since we had already been welcomed and had placed our order. The waiter could not explain and seemed uncomfortable speaking English. On our way downstairs, the person who had originally welcomed us tried to speak to us, but by then it was too late. The children were heartbroken, and we felt deeply humiliated.
This experience left us feeling discriminated against and mistreated, and it left a lasting negative impression on us. I promised myself I would write this review to warn other families, especially those wearing hijabs, not to visit this place. The service was beyond terrible, the staffâs behavior was racist, and their English was extremely poor. I can only imagine that their food is as bad as their attitude. Do not go there if you expect to be treated with respect as a tourist.

Mammorna i vÄrt sÀllskap bar hijab. Platsen verkade lovande, sÄ vi gick in.
Read moreNever come here!!! We wouldn't have had any problem with them charging 3 Euros for the "view" (which is a bush), but we didn't see that on the bill. The style of the waiter is beyond criticism. He brought out the bill, repeating the phrase "does not include tip" several times. When we asked him what this 6 Euro was, he started in a rough style. "You can not read?" "You do not see? It's on the menu! You read it, didn't you?" After this style, I had a couple of words to which his answer was "I don't like this style, you're a jerk". I asked him several times to let us leave and pay, but he continued to be rude and just said and said. I would like to emphasize once again that the problem was not the 6 euros. I just asked the waiter a normal question and he immediately handed it over and started talking in a jerk style, but he expected the tip. It is only incidental that the 4 tables that came after us also received the food, while we were...
Read moreAfter walking around Milan for some time, we came back here to eat. It seemed to have comparably decent prices. Our server could hardly be called welcoming or attentive, but I give him a pass, since he must be very worn out dealing with loud tourists all day. I got the insalata caprese, which was good, but not as good (nor as large) as the photo shown on the menu. I also ate the spinach and sage ravioli and suspect there was an entire stick of butter in it. Wow! Our guest had mushroom pasta (I can't remember which one, and there is no menu online, so...). She liked what she got. We wanted gelato too but were informed it would have to be purchased separately. Um...ok. The flavors are posted on the wall, but they didn't have available the listed flavors I wanted. The gelato guy was so rude to me, it was almost comical. We ended up just getting gelato not too far away with better flavors, a MUCH nicer staff, and a Euro cheaper per scoop...
