I recently had the pleasure of visiting Venchi Cioccolato e Gelato in Milan, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I stepped into the shop, I was greeted with the rich aroma of chocolate and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The gelato was simply divine – creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor. I tried several flavors, but the hazelnut and dark chocolate were standout favorites. Each scoop was a testament to Venchi's commitment to quality and authentic ingredients. The chocolate selection was equally impressive. The variety and craftsmanship of the chocolates were unparalleled. I particularly enjoyed the pralines, which were both beautiful and delicious. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and ensuring that my visit was enjoyable. The store itself is beautifully designed, making it a perfect spot to indulge in some sweet treats. Whether you're a chocolate lover, a gelato enthusiast, or just looking for a delightful place to satisfy your sweet tooth, Venchi Cioccolato e Gelato is a must-visit in Milan. I can't wait to return!

Meeting my favorite gelato directly in its country of origin was an extraordinary experience for me. Just imagine, I'm used to eating Venchi only in Indonesia, now I can taste it directly in Italy. I first met Venchi when I was living in Jakarta, Indonesia. It's one of the premium gelatos with a variety of delicious, authentic variants. And it was quite a surprise when I accidentally saw the Venchi signage right beside Hard Rock Cafe during a visit to Milano's Piazza Del Duomo area. It definitely made it impossible for me to resist trying the original flavors. Even though the temperature outside was 1°C. What's interesting is that the prices are almost the same as in Indonesia, of course, with almost as good quality!

I went there with high expectations, but: at 16:00 there were 3 types left. While ordering, the fourth one, the one I actually went for and tried to order, magically appeared (too late for me, but also - could the serving person somehow acknowledge the fact that I just asked for that specific aroma and was told literally 10s before that it's finished?). Ice cream was small, half of what I got at Terra, and more expensive. The piece of chocolate they put on immediately rolled to the floor. The guy serving me also handled payment, so not very efficient or hygienic. Taste - average. Overall, it is not an artisan Italian ice cream place, it gives more of a feeling of badly organized McDonald's.

It's an internet marketing ploy that costs a lot for what you get. My wife saw an influencer talking about their ice cream, and bought into the hype. What we got instead of a "great gelato" was a 30 minutes wait line and the subsequent back pain, because tourists like us wanted to try this "must have" experience and of course take theirs photos for the instagram. Of course, with one person on the cash register and a second one showcasing the various tastes and preparing orders, each individual order was taking anywhere between 30 seconds and 3 minutes. With a que of about 50 people in front of us, this equates to... A lot of wasted time! So we left in search of another gelateria.

There is another Venchi store about 400 meters away, next to a cafe. We went there since we still wanted to try their ice cream. They were more appropriately staffed, so we were serviced in a matter of minutes. And that's when we finally learned their gelato is not what those influencers made it out to be. Just a bit above average, and they give smaller portions than "mom & pop" shops as we learned during the rest of our...
