During our time (I visited with my mother) at Vista Duomo, we had our fair share of ups and downs, but firstly lets talk about the atmosphere, generally speaking the overall presentation of the restaurant was home’y and felt authentic but due to the staffs at the time, some tourist may racially profile the staffs and assume that this place is a tourist trap, I am here to assure you that the service is up to standards and up to its reviewed standards. On the other hand when it came to the food, we were pleasant in some dishes and on some others we were quite confused, primarily we received a welcome amuse-bouche which was some sort of gazpacho, not a very clear explanation from the service, secondly we were presented with Fusion Di Pappa Al Pomodoro which is a twist to the classic tuscan tomato soup with bread accompanied with a little cream and not any other noteworthy ingredients, also presented with La Capasante Al Sole which was a scallop entree with an underwhelming amount of squid ink mayonnaise and bland spinach like vegetable to accompany the scallop which was cooked nicely. Thirdly we were presented with Evoluzione Tra Terre e Mare which was a pasta dish that represents the “evolution from land to sea”, look… if you wanna be fancy its gotta taste fancy, it taste like a carbonara mixed cream sauce topped with whole anchovies and some julienne sun dried tomatoes, it impresses me how messy it is but it taste decent, on the other hand we also ordered the grilled octopus, yes thats it, as a main dishes….with a little bit of salad and vinaigrette on the top, the price is already overwhelming when comparing with the quantity given especially when it is not partnered with a side dish. Overall a decent dining experience but would like to understand the pricing and food quantities,

Read moreThe prices are very high. I have read other reviews and the restaurant always responds by "The prices are displayed at the front of the restaurant". Yes that is true. But the problem is that when people talk about prices they always do so relative to the portions. And that is the main problem. The quantity of the food is very small (and it obviously cannot be displayed like prices can). Thus the prices for that amount of food are indeed very high. The only reason for them being that high is the view. But you can also make a sandwich and eat it outside with the exact same view. Another problem is that they do not have tap water, an argument to which they respond by "we do not serve tap water. We are a restaurant after all". And then I understood that every restaurant that I had gone to before, was not actually a restaurant because they were breaking the sacred rule of having the option of tap water. As a restaurant trying to offer a service to customers there is no reason not to have the option of tap water. The only reason is to sell bottled water at a very high price. In conclusion, it is a tourist trap with the main goal being syphoning tourist money and shields itself to negative criticism with non-arguments. My recommendation is...
Read moreUnfortunately the view could not save this place for us. We came here honestly because everything else was booked and they had plenty of seating. The view from the restaurant floor is fine featuring the duomo but nothing special compared to the ground floor outside.
The drinks were OK, again nothing special. The food is where they lost it for us - we had the steak which was ordered medium yet served raw in the middle, not warm and severely under seasoned. The risotto was better but again under seasoned to the point we had to heavily salt it ourselves. The bread was the best part of our meal which says it all.
After we received the check which was delivered with some attitude from the waitstaff we noticed a charge for what we thought was a free three spoon full tasting of a sweet potato puree before our drinks came. We never ordered this, it was just brought to our table and yet we were charged 12 Euro!
Would not recommend - unfortunately we got caught in the tourist trap that...
