This place was fantastic! We went here twice when we were in Siena for a week last fall. The food was of excellent quality, and our servers were wonderful and attentive. We tried to speak in Italian as much as we could, and the effort was appreciated. We also tried to adhere to the customs/social norms of the region as best we could. You know the saying, "When in Siena, do as the Sienese do"😉

For the negative comments here about being charged for olive oil for dipping bread, please learn a little about the customs of the country you are visiting. Italians don't dip their bread in large amounts of cheap olive oil like Americans do at Italian-American restaurants stateside. In Italy, the quality olive oil that comes to the table is for dressing your salad, not dipping bread.

If you received rude treatment here, you might want to ask yourself how your own actions and words might have been the reason.

In short, you will have a lovely experience at this restaurant if you don't behave like a douche...

Tourist trap - terrible experience

They do everything to charge you more then what you actually order. Eating here was like trying to avoid at least 5 different tricks to get you to pay more.

They charged me an extra 5 euros for olive oil, which should be included in the cuperto. After I told them I wouldn’t pay the extra 5 euros they said that I have to be careful not to ask for something without knowing the price and that I had to pay. I asked it the €5 olive oil was in the menu, it wasn’t. They pretty much point blank stole from me. No matter what they say, you should never pay extra for this and even if you had to, asking for 5 euros is ridiculous. I had to pay because I only had one €100 bill and they wouldnt exchange it for my meal price without this additional robbery and I didn’t have enough time to call the police because I needed to catch a train soon.

The food isn’t very good as well and...

Very bad service, we went to eat pasta and it took 45 minutes to bring it, we came in a group and we had an hour and a half to eat since or the group was leaving, they gave us the salad and it was quick but at the time of the main course they took a long time and we had to order it to take it to eat it on the way. They still took a long time to bring it to us to take away and still from the bad service they didn't even give us cutlery or napkins, nothing. They don't give the proper attention and the portion they gave us to take away is not according to the time because in the lasagna they gave us a sheet and we saw other tables with their big lasagna. I don't recommend going at all. The waitress was also not attentive and although we reminded her several times she never brought us the food in a...

Best food and best staff in Siena! I had dinner at Le Campane and couldn’t recommend it more to everyone who comes to Siena. The food was delicious. I had the pici with cacio e pepe, and the beef neck, if I remember correctly. The dessert was also delicious, I had tiramisu. At the end the staff talked a little bit with me, because I was having dinner by myself. Aida, Elena and Elvis had the best energy and attitude. They served me during the night and they were the sweetest from beginning to end. Couldn’t recommend this place enough :)

We were in Siena for a short holiday and ended up to Le Campane almost by mistake the first night, and went back every day after that, the food was simply amazing and authentic italian! Had meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. ALL brilliant! Staff and kitchen also accommodated my dietary requirements easily and staff was kind...and funny! We had a great experience and would definitely go back.
