Ristorante Pizzeria Spadaforte — Restaurant in Siena

Service was okay to good, and attentive, and always there when you needed them (although they did fall to take away empty glasses), and the antipasto was nice, but the carbonara was far too cheesy and the brusshetta was bland. Lasagne was just OK. I wasnt sure when we were asked to retain our cutlery between courses, and that the packets of salt and pepper in a jar on the table instead of a proper pepper grinder (surely a must for Italian cuisine) should have been a warning light flashing. The final straw came when my secondo of fried fish came with half a plate of lightly salted chips (us)/crisps (uk). The fish was nice but a little bland - but crisps had no place on the plate! The food (two pizzas) was below or just average.. the crust was too hard, they were medium size and the taste was the worst i had since having pizzas in italy. The most annoying thing was that after we had dinner we asked for the menue to order more drinks and check the prices, but this was refused three time from the waitress, which just repeated the offers. We ended up with two coffees (which was 4€ one), as this seems to be their method to earn extra as I saw the same method on other tables. Il ristorante si affaccia sulla centralissima Piazza del Campo di Siena, al n. 13 ed è facile da trovare. Sui tavoli all'aperto, si gode di un panorama eccezionale, sulla Piazza di Siena dove si fa' il Palio e ricca di monumenti (Palazzo del Comune, Torre del Mangia, Cappella di Piazza ed altri). Dispone di molti posti e, col bel tempo, si può mangiare all'aperto. Meglio prenotare, altrimenti si rischia di non trovare posto. Serve specialità sia toscane che nazionali. Personale cortese e disponibile, veloce per quanto possibile. Le porzioni sono discretamente abbondanti. Ottimi gli antipasti di affettato toscano, buoni i primi di pasta sia di mare (tagliatelle zucchine e gamberetti, linguine allo scoglio) che di terra (pici al cinghiale, pici ai funghi porcini, fusilli). Meglio andare sugli ottimi arrosti di carne (costata di manzo, cinghiale, ossobuco)che sul pesce (fritto di baccalà appena discreto, fatto sulla friggitrice delle patate). Ottimi i ricciarelli e gli altri dolci tipici della zona. Per i prezzi va' premesso che il locale, solo per la sua locazione, non può essere in categoria economica. Un pranzo completo di primo, secondo, contorno e bevande (acqua e calice di vino) si attesta tra i 35-38 euro in base al pregio delle portate. Si può salire scegliendo piatti molto pregiati, come la bistecca alla fiorentina valutata a peso e vini tipici in bottiglia. Conviene sempre attenersi ai cibi ed ai prezzi indicati sul menù, chiedere piatti alternativi può significare portarsi anche sui 50-60...
