Yellow Submarine Kawagoe Card Shop — Local services in Kawagoe

This shop has a smaller collection of Magic Cards (the main game I play) than many other card stores I've been to, seeming to focus on mostly standard though there are some staples of other formats as well.

There is also a pretty good selection of TTRPG books, including extra things for DnD (like spell cards and such).

This store does also have a good selection of board and card games. In fact, I BELIEVE the chain is part of the translating and publishing of Japanese versions of games like Gloom and Once Upon a Time (Yellow Submarine is printed on the boxes). Because of this I always find them in the various locations, this one being no exception.

I've been to a few Yellow Submarines in Japan and while this one is the smallest I've seen with a tiny play area and limited MtG tournaments it's my favorite.

The staff's English seems limited but my Japanese is okay and they are more than willing to break out translators to help if things get too tricky.

The players at MtG tournaments I've gone to here (basically just prerelease) have also been very kind and welcoming to me for the most part. My ability to play Magic in Japanese is fine, being able to banter and talk between matches is another story, and yet everyone has been patient and kind with me.

◆良い点 川越では知る限りMTGを一番取り扱っていて、店内がきれい。

◆悪い点 店舗移転後もレジ1台体制で 何かの新発売時には行列ができて 30分以上待つことは当たり前のようにあり、1時間以上待つこともあった。 (自分と関係ない他のカード発売日と重なるだけで終わります)

また、その行列はスリーブなどのサプライコーナーとMTGカードのショーケース前を遮るよう並んでいて、パック販売札のコーナーもほぼ塞がれているので 来店しても見たい商品を まともに見ることができません。

前のお客さんが大量にカードを買われているてレジがひとつしかなく、20分ぐらい待たされたのですがほかの従業員やレジをしていた店員からは「お待たせしてしまいすみません」などの声掛けもなく、本当に不快な思いをしました。 自分のもっと後ろにいた子供が「もう帰る時間だから間に合わないし買えないや」と言って帰ったのを見て可哀想だなとも思いました。

せめてカードを数えたり、お金の計算をしてるから「もう少しお待ちください」などの声掛けをするのは難しいかと思いますが他の従業員に声掛けして貰えないかなどの相談などをすればいいのでは無いかと思いました。ほかの店員はレジの横でヘラヘラと笑って従業員同士で喋っていてほんとにイライラしました。
