御影堂門 〔重要文化財〕 正面21m、側面13m、高さ27mで、木造建築の山門としては世界最大級であり、木造建築の二重門としては、日本一の高さと言われています。 重層造りで、楼上には東本願寺の正式名称である「真宗本廟」の額が掲げられ、浄土真宗の根本聖典『仏説無量寿経』が説かれた場面を表す、釈迦如来・弥勒菩薩・阿難尊者の三尊像が安置されています(通常非公開)。 (東本願寺HPより)

The gate is multi-story, and on the top floor is a plaque reading "Shinshu Honbyo," the official name of Higashi Honganji Temple, and houses a triad of Shaka Nyorai, Maitreya Bodhisattva, and Ananda (usually closed to the public), depicting a scene from the "Buddha's Sutra of Immeasurable Life," the fundamental scripture of the Jodo Shinshu sect. The current building was burned down in 1864 and was gradually rebuilt from the end of the Edo period to the Showa period. The Miedo Hall was built in 1895 and has the same size and style as the one in the mid-17th century. It is a majestic traditional wooden building with the largest floor plan in Japan. The Amida Hall, which stands side by side with the Miedo Hall and forms a double hall structure, has a dignified and solemn interior space.
