This is one of the best places so far for me in japan is right next to the JR station so if you have a pass is perfect.Just walk to the turist information center and get a fully detalied plan, what track to take and you get the full tradicional experience the lovely person running took the time to explain my mother how to use each single thing "the showers, the tea machine, how to sit on the lobby it was amazing.

This is a traditional Japanese house. Tradition and Culture will always be a country's wealth, so it is a great pleasure for me to experience this kind of accommodation. At first I thought it was a hostel, but I was wrong. It's very reasonably priced. I have my own room. It has a terrace. Toilets are clean. They even provide guests with a Kimono ( atleast I think it is one. ) Walls are thin.

I decided to spend two days and one night in Kyoto, so I booked this hotel. An unexpected Japanese-style hotel with a quiet environment. It's very close to the JR station. It's also very convenient for nearby attractions. The staff is friendly and the room is large. I think it's a great value for money.

Solo traveller, and got their single room.

The Room: spacious, traditional Japanese experience, clean. The futon was so comfortable I would have loved to sleep in some more in it; but I did have to get out there and see the sites. That was arranged in one half of the room. The other half had a table with two chairs to sit, and an open area. There was plenty of space to put your luggage, and not feel cramped whatsoever- good value in comparison to other lodgings in Kyoto where things are a bit more of a squeeze. There were also maybe 3-4 other rooms on my floor, and sliding the door shut was good enough to muffle the noise and ensure privacy and a good night's sleep.

Amenities: I brought an extra towel as previous reviewers complained that the provided towels are small. However, the towels they provided were good enough! So I wasted space in my luggage for nothing. I got a big towel, as well as two medium sized ones for my face or other. Nothing to worry about, so leave space in your luggage for other things. There are 2 showers, and yes there were times both were occupied. But I didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes for one. 4 stalls for the toilet which is enough- never had to wait for that. Hot water worked plenty, and water pressure was great. No complaints in the bathroom department. If you see pictures of that shower room with two showerheads in it; don't worry you won't be showering with other people; as you can lock the door if it's just you and have the room to yourself; this was perfectly acceptable and everyone there did just that (might be ok for couples or families though). Internet worked great, no complaints. Vending machine right in the lobby! And unlike other vending machines on the street, this had beer =D

Location: only a 10-15 minute walk to JR Kyoto Station, in a relatively straight line, so if this is a priority, you can be rest assured that you are close to a major train station. The alley that contains the Inn is quiet and safe (as is Kyoto in general). a good choice of places to eat within a 10-minute walking radius.

Staff/family: welcoming, accommodating, relaxed,...

This hotel was very convenient to Kyoto Station, perfectly clean, and perfectly quiet. Bathroom facilities are shared and there are only stand up showers, but the bathrooms were always clean and during the four days I was there I never encountered anyone else in that section of the hotel. I arrived very late on my first night and they were quite kind about it. I somehow managed to arrive without enough to cover my entire stay (I was supposed to prepay when I arrived because I had booked through a third party website) and the woman at the desk was very clear in telling me not to worry about it. Everyone I encountered there was very friendly and the location was so good that I couldn't understand why I never saw any other guests. I heard someone, quietly, in the room next to me once but that was it. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a traditional but cheap hotel...
