Jet Set Kyoto Store — Local services in Kyoto

Good selection but unlike other comments I didn't have friendly or helpful service (lots of record store workers are similar). I'll post a pic of the sign of their rules they displayed which are fair but I was told I couldn't listen to new records, only used. I straight up indicated I wanted to buy a 4000 yen 2LP without listening. Then I just wanted to check a 12" remix (90s hip hop) was the version I was seeking. I was only allowed to look at the disc which I discovered was a new reissue (hence no listening allowed for me). When I opened it the paper insert was folded over & both sides of the cover came right apart (old/not enough glue?). I lived in Japan 3 yrs so I know the culture but I wonder if it was an anti foreigner thing. There were 3 Aussies in a row incl me. If they'd let me listen to more discs I would've spent a lot more. So, quite disappointing after a Japanese friend highly...

As was said by other reviewers, the selection here is fantastic but the customer service is terrible. What makes a great record store is not just its stock, but also the level of service and atmosphere created by the staff. Very cool place with a wonderful selection. Even found some Dutch artists (im from the Netherlands) on wax which was the least i was expecting in Kyoto. To top it off, these guys gifted me a Moodymann tour poster when i told them i was going to his concert in Osaka. Naturally had to buy a record after that as a big thank you....
