As an avid yogi, I was very happy to have found The Vancouver Sky Studio, referred to me by the concierge desk at the St. Regis Hotel. The studio was a 10 minute walk, and a little hidden. But what a gem! I was lucky enough to take a vinyasa class with co-owner Yu, who has a background in Ashtanga and power vinyasa. First, I must say, this is one of the first studios I've been to IN THE WORLD that provides mats and they do NOT stink. Like most things in Japan, the mats were superbly clean (as was the studio). Yu is a legit teacher who not only guided us through our flow, she offered very good cues and adjustments throughout class. We began and ended in meditation, which included a small massage and lavander eye cover during savasana. Totally worth the $20US. They also offer more basic classes and Hatha Yoga. The studio is also on Instagram, and the other co-owner, Ben (from Vancouver, thus the name), also offers yoga photo sessions. They're a very nice couple. Strongly suggest...
Read moreMy friend and I are travelling through Japan for 3 weeks and we were staying in Osaka for only a few days. While looking for somewhere to follow yoga classes this studio popped up and I’m so glad it did! For me it was my first time attending a yoga/pilates class and I’m grateful that I got to do it at this studio! The lessons are awesome and good to follow. Even though some classes are given in Japanese, the instructors will still use some English. They are also super nice and helpful! For travellers there is a Travellers Pass, with which you can follow as many lessons as you’d like for a week. It is such a good initiative for people who aren’t staying in Osaka for too long. The studio itself is really cozy and calming, and the owner is also very nice! Would definetly recommend visiting this studio when...
Read moreI was so happy to find this yoga studio on a recent trip to Osaka. The couple that runs it (Ben is Canadian, Yu is Japanese) is just lovely - both of them are so kind and welcoming, as are the other teachers. The space is cozy and bright and has a great view over the park. The classes are excellent and Yu’s ability to teach in both English and Japanese is impressive! The other teachers I had a chance to take classes with (Miri and Inn) did not speak quite as much English, but I still enjoyed their classes, felt included, and was able to follow along no problem. I appreciated that the studio offers a traveler’s pass and felt it was a very fair price (5000 yen for a week unlimited). All in all a very special place with great vibes and...
