DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE FOREIGNER - LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS
Edit to add after owners response: my issue is with the poor haircut and rushed service. I understand your pricing breakdown both before booking and at time of service and it’s poor.
To pay $180 equivalent AUD to leave with a choppy cut and wet hair still is disgusting way to treat your customer. Wish I could get some of my money back. That is only way to make this right for me. What I paid for in level of service and experience is not what I received.
Original review below:
I have given 26 reviews in the last 3 years to businesses on google, so I am ALWAYS willing to give positive feedback for a business and pained when I feel I need to give a bad one. This was the worst experience of my life and worst haircut of my life. There was a few bad reviews and the owners response wasn’t great but overall reviews seemed positive so I checked Unopulir out. I wanted to cry in the chair.
From the minute I got there I felt uncomfortable. Yes the online price is a starting price and can go up based on service. I knew the price was 6600 for the hair spa and 8800 for the haircut and blow dry so it wasn’t a cheap experience, but was happy to pay a bit more than you would in Australia for an expert.
The hair spa was just 20 minutes of shampooing my hair? There was no real technique to it, and it’s just performed in the basin at the salon (no private room or quieter area). While this is cheaper than other places and I accepted some concessions would be made, I did not expect to pay that much for only 20 minutes head massage?
Then the haircut. I was taken back to the chair and KEN started cutting. I was horrified that he didn’t even part my hair or ask how I usually parted it (depute showing him 4 photos all of me with a middle part) and he just starts hacking away at my hair. “He dried it off” and “styled it” which fell out just minutes after I walked out, and when I used the bathroom after the appointment, I felt my scalp was still wet.
I was hopeful that maybe it was my mistake, but when I got back to the hotel to check my hair it’s so uneven and awful. My hair grows super quickly so I’m really not phased on a bad haircut, but this is so bad it makes me want to go home.
Wish I could get my money back. Felt as though I paid 16,630 just to be humiliated and have an awful haircut. Please don’t go here. The arguing back in the reviews from the owner should be enough to...
Read moreUpon walking in, this salon is beautiful and so aesthetically pleasing. Ken was very nice and explained everything each step of the procedure for the headspa. The headspa specialist was outstanding! She had very strong fingers when massaging my scalp but it felt amazing! My hair seems so much shinier and healthier after the headspa treatment!
Update: after meeting back up and speaking to my husband who was the one who booked the appointment as a surprise for me, he told me he booked me a 90min appointment asking me why it ended so early. Since I did not know other than it was a headspa treatment, I was confused with their questionaire that asked what time did you want to leave not knowing how long it would take, I put down a time shorter than the 90mins. I would hope as a professional, they would have made me aware and confirm if it was correct “like oh I noticed you wrote down a shorter end time and you booked a 90 min session if it was correct”. I am disappointed that I paid for a full session but was shorted 40 mins. If I wasn’t leaving the same day, I would have went back to confront...
Read moreIt’s disappointing that I’m writing this review, but after a week from visiting this salon, I want to express my true feelings with how my experience went. I initially chose the salon because of its prestige and the English speaking hairdresser who has over 10 years experience but sadly, the salon did not live up to my expectations. Ken, who cut my hair was not careful and seemed to rush the entire thing. My hair is naturally curly so it’s harder to see whether the sides are even. But now I can see there are a few long strands that he neglected to cut off. Besides that, I didn’t like that they asked whether I wanted to leave a tip before the service had even started. As tipping is not expected in Japan as it is back home (Canada), I would have considered it afterwards if I was satisfied with my haircut. I can’t help but wonder if the mistreatment during my haircut was due to the fact that I wasn’t wearing expensive clothes as a salon is located in the Ritz-Carlton. Overall, my haircut looks like something I could have got off the side of the street. Consider taking your...
