The other Google reviews were essential in finding this interesting shop, housed in a small unit on the 9th floor of this red-brick apartment & commercial building in central Ginza. I rang the doorbell and was welcomed in by the polite proprietor (who helpfully speaks some English.) There were 2 Japanese female seamstresses there already, buying cloth-cutting scissors. I specify wanted high quality Japanese nail clippers, and a kitchen vegetable peeler. He duly obliged, and at reasonable cost. The range of kitchen knives, work-related blades and other blade paraphernalia is good for such a small shop. For my purchase I had to pay cash because his bank point-of-sale machine couldn’t handle my international debit card. I’m sure Japanese issued cards would be ok. Read moreNot easy to find but if you like knives you must go ! It’s in a residential building, take the elevator to the 9th floor. Letterboxes will indicate you are at the right place. It’s held by a wonderful man passionate for his craft. Selection of knives if limited but price/quality exceptional. He will kindly guide you through his different blades (including natural sharpening stones and a very nice range of sharpening parafernalia) , and do a second sharpening of your purchase, should you want it . He has raw material for handles and pins / steel bars , presumably to fix knifes, true candy shop for blacksmiths. Plus he even accepts Amex . Needless to say I will be back . I was delighted to have found such a gem in the middle of such a...

After visiting many stores in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo, we decided to buy from this store. We were particularly interested in Damascus style knifes like most tourists and these particular knifes are just amazing! The thing about Japanese knifes is that they are thin and very strong as well. So this is what you get: razor sharp knifes with effortless cutting of almost anything. The senior gentleman was very nice and helpful. We also bought the sharpening stone, which is as wonderful as the knifes. If we visit Japan again, we will visit the store again. This store is close to Kabuki Theater in Ginza and it...
