4th day in Japan and my wife and I still can't adjust to the time zone. We've been up since 4am (9am Vancouver time). Our stomaches were growling so we decided to go out to look for 7-11 or Family Mart (they have both of these convenience stores everywhere). Then we saw this little restaurant that's open 24/7! Decided to go in and try it out since the price is pretty cheap. I get why it's cheap, there is very little meat. But that doesn't mean it wasn't good. We just added a few gyozas and an egg. Total came to 1450 Yen ($12 CAD). This is the cheapest meal we had besides McDonald's breakfast (1200 yen) since being here. Lots of variety. Few young hard working men working here in the kitchen and server.

We are back again for breakfast. So thankful for this place is 24/7! Nowhere else is open except...

I visited Hidakaya Higashi-Ginza, a spot I chanced upon near my hotel, and decided to give it a try. Open 24 hours, it’s a no-frills place with reasonable prices, making it especially great in winter. I was thoroughly impressed with their tan men, a hearty and comforting ramen-style dish featuring a light, savory broth and stir-fried vegetables. I ordered it without noodles, and it still delivered an exceptional experience. The soup was incredibly tasty, rich yet balanced, and the vegetables had a delightful smoky char from being stir-fried before cooking in the soup, adding depth and complexity to the flavors. A simple, hearty, and satisfying meal—perfect for a comforting bite any time of day in the...

I went here for dinner on my first day in Tokyo. I was immediately seated in upon entering. I was given a cup of water and instructed to place my order via the tablet on the table. I ordered 1 set meal, which was composed of 3 gyoza, half ramen, and half fried rice for a price of ¥680. The gyoza was served first, and it was good for its price. Meanwhile, it took quite some time for the ramen and fried rice noodles to be served. The fried rice is okay. There were pieces of fried eggs and they were served hot. The ramen, on the other hand, is so-so. For the price, the set meal is enough for a dinner. It was fulfilling and...

Cheap eats, 24 hours eatery. It's a chain that served "Chinese food" mostly. But that's mostly Japanese interpretation. It's alright for me as I wasn't seeking the most authentic Chinese here in Tokyo. For that I go back to Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. As in many Japanese eateries, a picture is worth a thousand words. I'm sure they have English menu if you ask, but I can guess fairly accurately. So not an issue. Dan Dan noodles, a spicy noodle soup is what's needed on a chilly night. There's upstairs dining as well, and I didn't smell any smoke from the smoking section.
