I ordered a ticket online from JrNinja. When I went to the counter, a kind older lady welcomed me, escorted me to the counter, and asked for my ticket and passport. At the counter, I showed my online QR code, explaining that the email instructed me to present it for ticket collection. Surprisingly, the man became very angry, insisting they were the original, etc. Instead of directing me to another ticket counter, he was rude. Feeling bewildered, I realized he wouldn't calm down or answer my question about where to go. I told him his reaction was very impolite, but he coldly ignored me. Disappointed, I tearfully searched for the ticket counter, luckily finding help from kind commuters. I'm very disappointed with this experience in such a...

JR pass is a waste of time and money for a visitor. On this trip to Japan we spent more time in lines due to problems with QR codes and the pass itself than actually riding on Shinkansen. Literally!

You can’t reserve online, no digital tickets available, Suica card on iPhone is spotty at best. QR code for reserving seats doesn’t work. Instead you wait in a one hour long line every time you try to go anywhere. The trains themselves are amazing. JR technology is decades behind. The agents at 50/50 some of the nicest in Japan and some of the rudest.

JR wants no feedback period. There is only a third party review company and anything negative doesn’t show up. It’s fake reviews… or only positive are posted. I know because my review is not on...
