The food was normaly, and most of the staff were friendly.
However, the wait time was long, so I recommend making a reservation. Since there was no assigned server, we had to wait a long time for someone to assist us. Additionally, there was sand in the clams.
While most of the staff seemed kind, we had an unpleasant experience with one particular employee today. She didn’t speak English well and had a blank expression on her face. Without confirming with us, she added an item we didn’t want to the bill. Even when we pointed out the mistake, she didn’t seem to understand what she had done wrong.
We interacted with several different staff members as there wasn’t a dedicated server assigned to us. They all appeared busy and weren’t attentive to guests seated at the bar. It seemed like there was no manager overseeing the restaurant. As travelers, we didn’t want to let a 1,100 yen charge ruin our mood or waste our energy, so we quietly paid and left.
Although we enjoyed the food today, our experience was marred by this one employee. She had long reddish hair tied back with bangs and was responsible for making drinks, serving them, and taking orders. When we asked her questions in English, she added an unwanted "otoshi" (automatic appetizer) without confirming with us, which resulted in an additional 1,100 yen charge. We only realized this mistake when paying the bill. Her inability to understand our intentions and her automatic charging left us feeling frustrated. While other staff members’ smiles and kindness gave us a good impression of the restaurant, this one employee single-handedly tarnished it.
As advice for future guests: if this employee appears confused when you ask her questions in English or brings you food without confirming your order, I recommend asking for an English-speaking staff member to ensure that your intentions are clearly understood before accepting any food.

Read moreI am really very displeased at their service.
After ordering, it took 20min for them to serve the otoushi (octopus) to me. In this time, i observed a bowl of monjayaki ingredient placed at the counter and i was wondering if that is mine. After finishing the octopus, it was another 30min before they finally took the monjayaki bowl and cook it. The monjayaki bowl that was sitting on the counter for at least 45min. So, I spent 45min waiting for what? There was also no applogy for keeping me waiting
I went in at 8.30pm so the restaurant was not that busy at all. Throughout the 50min wait, i simply keep looking at the staffs arranging the beer bottles, cleaning the countertop, chatting, basically everything else that is not time sensitive and NOT COOKING FOR ME THE PREPARED MONJAYAKI INGREDIENTS.
Because of their delay, i almost almost missed the last bus. Are they going to pay for my cab fare if i truly miss the last bus?
And, the food is not that great at all.
I hope the restaurant can give a retraining to the staffs. They obviously need it. They have so many staffs so i seriously dont get it why it took 45 MINUTES to cook the monjayaki. It took 5min for the kitchen to prepare the monjayaki. So i didnt count that 5min into my waiting time.
I sat at the counter. The staffs in charge of the counter seats were a guy and a female. I wished i take note of...
Read moreA late review from a trip almost 2 months ago, but we stopped by here for lunch. It wasn't too busy and we were able to get a seat immediately. Our server Yuna was phenomenal and able to make some small talk with us in English while explaining to us what monjayaki was and how it differed from okonomiyaki, all while preparing the food for us as well. You can order and pay via phone on a website in English, so it's really tourist friendly.
As far as the food goes, it is very monjayaki focused which is not as starchy or filling as okonomiyaki, and there are some other items and side dishes available for order as well. As such, our group was famished as we skipped breakfast and walked a ton in the morning, so while each monjayaki order should serve 2 people, we found we pretty much needed 1 order each to fill up.
If you want to try some local cuisine and have never tried monjayaki before, you can't go wrong...
