I came to this museum with my family some months ago and returned today with a friend and our children. I felt bullied by the staff. Was taking a sip of water near the locker room before entering and a member of the staff came to tell me I can’t drink inside. I wasn’t inside, being by the door isn’t inside.. As I put the bottle in my backpack and decide to take the backpack with me inside the museum I was followed by members of the staff saying I should leave the backpack in the locker. Actually I have medicines that I need to take with me everywhere and I don’t feel comfortable without them and I told so in Japanese to the members that came to tell me this. I saw a lot of people with bags and backpacks inside. Is it possible to know why such strictness is needed? Is it because I’m a foreigner? I live in Japan for 12 years, visited museums in several parts of the country and sincerely never faced a similar situation. Want to leave this review here so other visitors can see. Felt irritated and couldn’t enjoy my visit or enjoy my friends...

I have asked and was told that I can take photos , but no flash light. A nice museum that you...
Read moreSuch an amazing experience. Free to enter. Very kind staff. They had a desk at the front to stamp their flyer/ your notebook at the front desk!
A wide variety of artifacts and preserved animals/skeletons/plants/minerals, letters, photographs, pots, machinery, and more. There were families of all shapes and sizes here, very welcoming to all. Two floors of amazing things to explore! I'm a casual museum go-er and I thought it was just the right amount of space and time. Not too much information to make it overwhelming and just the right type and style of items to keep it interesting...
